Default 06 Grand Prix Sir-GM1

If anyone has installed the SIR-GM1 unit in an 04-06 Grand Prix, I would appreciate any suggestions on where to mount the unit, cable routing, etc. I do not have a satellite ready radio (ie no XM).
The T-harness I recieved looks like it is too short to mount the unit anywhere but the console. Any input is appreciated.

Thanks.

RKTMan,

Check out the Club Grand Prix website.... there's alot of info there on how to wire up your unit and a bunch more on the Grand Prix as well....
I have a 2004 GTP with the Comp G package wired with Sirius and the SIR-GM1 module.... LOVE IT!!!!

Post SIR-GM1 problem

Tried to have it installed in a 2006 Grand Prix GXP which is already hard wired for XM. Was told that it was not compatible since my vehicle has transitioned to the GM-LAN bus already. Wasn't sure as the installer didn't sound confident in what he was doing. Any solutions?

Well I tried the club gp website but it really doesn't have anything useful for my situation. If anyone has another suggestion I'm listening. I'm thinking Circuit City might be my best bet (but that's 2 hours from where I live). Anyone know how much they charge?

I had the SIR-GM1 installed in my 06 Pontiac GT with no problem. I can't answer any of the technical questions because I had it installed at CC where I bought the SIR-GM1. According to the installers, it was straightforward and no problems. My car has the Monsoon six-disc changer but did not have factory XM, but it does have the XM antenna on the roof, which was not used. My install cost was $70, if I remember correctly.

FWIW, I also have an iPod connection to the factory radio along with the SIR-GM1.

Well I gave up on doing it myself and took it to CC. They installed it for $55, not bad. Everything is working good.
The tech at CC had to solder a ground connection to the unit and put it loosely behind the factory unit (with some reinforcement). With the hassle, it would probably be worth the money for anyone considering this installation to pay CC to do it (this coming from someone who can squeeze blood from a turnip).
