Default 05 Accord XM with Sirius install

I have a 2005 Accord with factory XM and 6-disc in-dash changer. My local car audio installer (Beach Autosound) recommended tapping directly into the XM input line to the head unit with relays controlled by a switch to directly connect my Sirius Starmate 4. Now by selecting the XM/aux button on the factory head unit i can listen to either XM or Sirius by selecting (via a second switch) mounted on the dash.

My problem is the sound from the Sirius unit isn't as loud as XM or even FM. It doesn't seem to be amplified. I can't seem to understand why this would happen if I'm tapping directly into the XM input lead.

Any suggestions or thoughts?

TIA

Stupid questions first... is the sound up on your Starmate?

Damn... well, there goes the extent of my knowledge. Others here will know, but you might have to check back in the morning. Sat night coming up to New Years isn't the most populated time of the week.

Update:

Looks like everything is functioning as expected. The issue with the sound level had to do with connecting the Sirius line to the same line used, and therefore preset gains, for XM signal. Adding a line level converter would have solved the problem, but turning up the volume (about 3-4 levels up) works the same way

The other issue was the sound quality/dynamic and having the ability to switch between both XM and Sirius (via a rocker switch monted by sunroof controls) reveals XM's strength in this category, albeit for certain stations. But when comparing XM's best to Sirius best (sound quality), there's just no competition. Too bad the content on XM leaves more to be desired.
