Question Has Anyone Used a Ground Loop Isolator like...

One more question then I'm going to try and relax away the headache the Sirius' sales reps and customer service line caused today (see other post). To anyone whose used a Ground Loop Isolator (GLI), what are the results? I'm looking at this one specifically.

PAC SNI-1/3.5 Noise Filter from Crutchfield.

Mainly I want to know if it works without destroying sound quality The reviews look promising.

Default GLI's work great!

I had a horrible buzz in my car from a ground loop problem. Installling a ground loop isolator completely eliminated the problem without any noticable change in sound quality.

I had alternator whine and it only reduced it slightly so I removed it and used the cigarette lighter adaptor for power instead of the line from the interface and it was cured .

I just installed the one you are asking about in my 07 Camry and it works perfectly. The whine is gone but the sound quality is great.

When I went from wireless FM modulation, to a dual auxiliary input adaptor, my XM Roady XT had a wicked hum, picked up a GLI from RadioShack and it solved the problem. Then I noticed that I was getting alternator squeal from my Sirius Starmate Replay, but only while the headlights were on. So I got another GLI from RadioShack. I have noticed no sound problems with the GLIs, as far as I’m concerned, if there is any negative impact, they definitely help more then they harm.

I also bought a Ground loop Isolator from radio shack, got it for around $20 CAD. It comes with a Y adapter cable too and worked really well with the auxillary hookup in my car. It got rid of the alternator whine completely. I did find you lose a bit of the bass with it but it still sounds great.

i also had a terrible whine when i initially installed my sportster and while using my ipod with the charger thru my aux input. I picked up the ground loop illiminator from radio shack for 17 bucks and it took care of my problem!

This is the EXACT one I bought for in my Mazda3 and I couldn't be happier. I had serious alternator whine (listening to talk channels was just like fingernails on chalkboard) but this GLI completely solved my problem.

I had been researching GLI's and when I saw this one with the 3.5mm minijack, I knew I had found a gold mine.

This was the only one I'd seen that has minijack instead of RCA. And since I'm fully minijack aux in, I figured going mini to RCA to GLI to RCA and back to minijack would degrade sound quality. Keeping it minijack all the way thru was definitely the best choice for me!

I also have the RS GLI in our one van for over a year now. It is mini to RCA Aux In, but sound quality is still good to me without the whine.
Gone to DRC!!!
