Question Hardwire Question

I have to admit I am new to this as this is my first attempt to install a car radio myself. And, as a result, I am stuck, and I need some help!

I have a pioneer radio. Previously, I had an XM direct tuner running to it. I have made the switch from XM to Sirius. So I wanted to replace the XM tuner with the Sirius tuner (SIR-PNR2). Everything was fine until I needed to wire the last two wires. I ran the black wire from the Sirius tuner and connected it with the chasis ground (black) wire running to the radio. There is also a yellow battery wire to connect, so I connected it to the yellow wire running to the radio. The Sirius works, I have it set up and activated. The CD player works. But I no longer have an FM/AM signal, nothing but static.

Does anyone know what I did wrong? If I were to compare this setup to how the XM was setup before (which was professionally installed)....that also had a black wire that was connected to the black chassis ground wire running to the radio. It also had an orange wire that had a fuse connected in the wire, but it was connected with the red wire running to the radio (the switch/accessory red wire).

Should I have followed the same setup and connected to the red wire instead of the yellow? OR would this even make a difference in my FM/AM reception?

One thing I noticed from the previous XM setup is that everytime I turned the ignition off, the radio went back to the default XM station telling you how to activate it when I turned it back on. I would prefer that it stay on the station that i had it tuned to before I turn the ignition off.....I just didn't know if the wiring effected this. But of course, this is not as important as just getting my FM/AM reception back!

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide!

I suspect somehow your antenna has become unplugged. Your sirius tuner box should be hooked up to a constant power source (yellow wire), this keeps it form resetting itself every time you restart your car.

The sirius tuner may have to be turned OFF in order for your FM/AM to work.

Thanks for the help.

Could you tell me how to check to see if my FM/AM antenna is in fact unplugged?

The radio in my car switches between the satellite, cd, and FM/AM through a "source" button. So if the Sirius tuner would need to be turned off in order to receive FM/AM, how do I do turn it off when switching to the FM/AM? Is there a way to do that other than by unplugging it in the back?

Thanks again. Info is very much appreciated!
