Default acquiring signal

I have an older Obiter model unit that works fine in the car. But when I put it in the boom box in the house I move the antenna to where I am receiving a good signal but after a while it starts this "acquiring signal" stuff. every few minutes the radio will play and then go back to acquiring signal. My son from
Dallas gave it to me when he got a new unit. He said he never had any problems. If I change antenna's to a car type would this help. Any help on this would be appreciated. I just killed XM and started with Sirius yesterday if this continues I made a mistake.

Bobby,
Welcome to SBS! I have an Orbiter also. In my experience it works great, just make sure the antenna for the home unit has a good, clear view of the sky. If it all possible, mount the antenna outside on the roof.

Sirius satellites move around in an elliptical orbit; if your antenna is not in an ideal place, like inside near a window, there's a good possibility you'll get an acquiring signal message every once in a while.
