Rick,
a couple of things...
1. Make sure your antenna has a clear view of the sky. It would be best if you could get your antenna high up, like on your roof.

2. Are you aiming your antenna in the preferred direction?

Hope this helps!

while we are talking about the antenna, I recently purchased a soloist, what is the best way to mount the antenna on the roof for the strongest signal or is this not recommended because putting the antenna in the window isn't quite doing it, any suggestions would help thanks, Mike

I just purchased a Sportster 4 and works fine in my car. I installed the antenna on the exterior of my house and get 7 bars of signal at times, but then drops down to 3 bars. At 3 bars, it comes in and out of acquiring signal and playing music. It is annoying to say the least. I called both Sirius and Radio Shack and they told me to exchange the home kit. I should get no dropouts with 3 signal bars. I was very clear that I have the new sportster 4, so 3 bars is out of 10 total. I mine as well retun and get a new kit, but can anyone tell me if this will improve anything?

I'm here in LA and I got the Sportster 4 home dock and have my antenna sitting on the roof, I always get full signal strenght from the birds.
