Default Sportster mutes

I had my Sportster professionally installed powered thru the car's electrical system. The line out feeds the aux input of my Blaupunkt Santa Fe. Trouble is, when I try to run the head end higher than 41 on the volume display the
Sportster's screen dims and then the tuner mutes. It just stays that way unless I power it down then turn it on again and set the volume to 40 or less.
The Sportster never blows a fuse and always works fine otherwise. Changing the audio output level in the Sportster's menu has no effect wether I lower or raise the level. In my car, 41 on the Blaupunkt's aux input is not very loud.
Any suggestions?

It might be that your car takes too much power past 40, and the Sportster is the first to go.

Try turning on the FM transmitter, and pick a frequency. Listen through that(doesn't matter if there is static or not, just need to hear a bit of the audio for the Sportster), and see if it does the same thing when you turn up the volume.

Either way, if you got this done recently, I would take it back and have them fix it.
