Question Does the Wired Relay Need an Antenna Adapter in a '96 Firebird?

Title pretty much says it all. I'm thinking about ordering a FM wired relay for my Firebird, and I know sometimes you need an adapter such as this: http://www.tss-radio.com/antenna-ada...ss-p-4083.html

So I'm wondering if anyone else who's installed the FM wired relay on a late model Firebird has needed the adapter..

Thanks!

Yes.. You will need an adapter... GM decided to make the antenna inputs on their radios smaller than the industry 'standard'.

This adapter from Circuit City will mate up the large plug from the FM direct adapter to your GM radio antenna input. You should be able to get one of these adapters at any large automotive stereo shop.

I just got the pair of adapters needed for my wife's Taurus at PepBoys for $16.99, just a dollar more than CC wants for one. Check them out because I believe they had the GM pair for the same price.

You know, actually I was more worried about the antenna wire itself. The deck is aftermarket, and I'm not sure about it's size and compatability, but I don't remember issues when I installed it. The deck was bought in 2000 I believe.

If it has a tape player you'd be better off with a tape adapter.
