Question Reception - Eastern NC

I have the SV3 hooked up in my car with the additional FM transmitter antenna installed. I recieve great signal most of the time until halfway of my daily commute. I pass through zip 27889 about 1 mile from VOA(Voice of America) site A and totally lose the Satellite. Signal bars will go from none to full and I still hear nothing but muted static. I feel confident that the FM signal is not my problem - any help? Anyone know if the frequency range transmitted at the VOA would interfere with my sat. reception?

I really like Sirius and the programming but I can't see paying for static.

Thanks,
Jason

Offhand, It sounds like interference from nearby ground based transmitter(s) are knocking out your reception. It can happen. (It could very well be from the VOA site. They use short wave, but they do transmit at up to half a million watts of power).

The Sirius signal is digital. It's either there or it isn't. You can't get static. (Although sometimes if you're on the verge of starting to lose the signal, you'll get a gurgling, skipping sound).

If you're getting static after the Sirius signal drops out, then you are certainly hearing it on the FM side.

Out of curiosity... The SV3 already has an FM transmitter built in. Why would you buy another one? Which model did you get?

Default Thanks one more question -

Sorry for the confusion - I meant the FM extender antenna you can add inside the vehicle to help with reception.

So, is the VOA giving me a FM reception problem or a Sat. reception problem? Can I fix this with the SIRIUS FM Direct Adapter Model#: FMDA25 ?

Thanks,
Jason

Default Fixed !

I installed the direct adaptor and all is well. Even the mighty VOA tower can't touch it!

Thanks,
Jason
