Default Sportster 4 no audio no sid

Hey all,

I bought a Sportster 4 at the end of November. I got online and activated it, everything was great. I listen to it everyday. Sunday the 31st of January I listened to a couple of football games @ noon. Then I left for a while came back, and my friends came over for a New Years Party, I went to turn on my sportster and there was nothing. The screen stays on the Sirius and sirius dog logo. When I press menu it goes to the menu screen, I click on sirius ID and there is nothing shown it is blank. When I hit menu it goes to channel 184 shows no signal and does nothing else. I put it on the car dock and it does the same thing. Is there any way I can reset it or do something to get my service back? I paid for a 3 month subricption....What's up?

sirius customer service sucks big time! I recommend not getting sirius at all thier customer service is laughable. You wait 10 minutes to get someone and then they put you on hold to "wait to get your info up on the screen", of course the same person does not come back on the phone, and the process starts over. and this is on a wednesday, what's the wait time on friday or the weekend an hour?

Try logging in online and resending the signal to your radio.

I can't logon, According to the customer service, The site is being updated. I tried to logon to resend the signal on new years eve night. I did finally get a hold of a customer service rep they sent the signal 3 times my unit would not pick it up, so I took it in where I bought it, only to find out that it has a 15 day exchange only, what a joke. I've only had it for a month and a half. They sent it in a said it would be two weeks. I have a feeling the 2 weeks will end up being 2 months.

Default Having the same problem after the Channel Upgrade

How did customer service solve this problem.
I turned my radio on this morning and the radio was updating the channels for the Feb 14th channel upgrade.
I took the radio to the car, but did not see if the channels had been updated.
Now my radio is stuck on the logo page and does not have a SID. I can press the menu button to go to channel 184 only, no antenna.
I have talked with tech support. They asked me to do a factory default which did not help. Then wanted to know when I purchased the radio. They seen only interested if it is covered under warranty of not. They are going to escalate the case to warranty, I will see what happens.

I had the same problem on my sportster 4. Frozen on start-up screen, no audio, no SID. As I can read in this forum, I'm not allone with it.
I tried the hard reset (power on, go to sid number, if its empty press and release fast the buttons band, disp and then memo; then message 'restting lock code' appears),but this didn't help.
Anyway, the unit have to be replaced by Sirius, if its still under warranty (1 year).
Tuesday I called Sirius, to put my account on-hold. They said they cant do it, because of my 3-month sub. But they can add 2 month for free. Time enough to replace the unit.
Then I called to Sirius warranty department, they asked me to fax a copy from the 'my account' web page to registrade the unit, and to call in 24 hours again.
Called them 24 hours later, rported the unit as defective, they gave me a claim number and now they will send me a new unit. If I get the replacement unit, I'll have 30 days time to send them my defective unit, otherwise they will charge my credit card.
The same day I received already a FedEx tracking number from them. Yes you are reeding right!!! The same day they shipped the new unit!!! Monday I will get the package! Fast Service! No complaints! But sh.!.tty sportster-4!!
Hope the new will last longer.

It was a brand new unit with all accessories. Now the Sportster 4 comes with a FM extension cable. Bad thing is, that the home dock does not have a conector for that.

I got a Starmate 4 for Christmas 2006, worked great till Monday (3/05/07) afternoon "not much of a life span for a radio", it locked up on the Welcome Screen and will not move from there.

Called Sirius "Customer Service", they tried to unlock and it would not work.

They had me call "Product Support" because they knew a few extra tricks to "fix it" they tried several things and it would not work.

They had me call "Warranty Dept." and they told me to go to the Sirius Web Site and print out my Customer Info from the "manage my account page" and fax it to them with the SID No. for the radio marked.

Thay said they would have someone call me back within 24 Hours or if no one called me I should call them back.

24 Hours + and no call back, I called them and it was like they had no record of the prevous days conversation.

They again took the all the info and gave me a claim number now with "Advance Shipping" and after giving them my Credit Card Number just in case I don't send the old unit back so they can charge me $ 119.00 + for the replacement unit, I should have another radio in 10 Working Days

As a Subscription Service that has unreliable hardware I am to say the least not happy.

The new radio should have been shipped NEXT DAY DELIVERY not standard ground shipment and they want me to pay the shipping charges to sent the old unit back.

This is crazy, they will not gain customer loyality with this kind of service !
