Default Starmate Replay ST2 two questions -

My radio recently died - the audio out jack broke inside, and somehow now it won't power up (I wish I knew how the auido out could effect the power, oh well).

Does anyone know if there is any website or manufacturer that will repair the radio you have/? I really don't want to lose the built in FM modulator in this model, and it is the only one that I have ever gotten to work properly. As with most electronics I imagine that it would cost just as much to fix it as to buy a new one.

Also - is the XACT Stremer a clone of the ST2 - can you use the accessories liek the boombox and stuff - if so, I might pick one up.

Thanks

Default Also frustrated...

My Starmate Replay just died on Jan 1st (and only 11 days over the end of the warranty period!) I just called tech support (and finally got through), and the tech suggested replugging in the power supply and antenna! What a bunch of crap! After I told him what was going bad on it! It's obviously the unit's power and antenna inputs. It is very static-y (when it actually opts to play) and the power goes on and off at the least little touch. I was told that the warranty was only a year (duh), and he gave me the number to the Warranty Department to let them know the deal. The tech didn't commit to anything I suggested, which I guess he's not allowed to have an opinion. He also suggested taking it back to Circuit City where we got it. Guess we'll do both things tomorrow. I'm cautiously hopeful, but prepared for the worst. In the meantime, I did ask the tech to temporarily disconnect our service for 2 months, and I did bid on a new Starmate unit on Ebay. Hope it doesn't take long to resolve - I miss Howard and my tunes already, and it's only been a few days!

A friend of mine has a refurbished ST2 with some power problems, though he never installed it correctly.

I fixed my St2's audio out problem. Open it up and take done the antenna cable. What usually goes wrong is the one of the soldered connections comes loose on the board. Re-solder the loose connection back on the board very carefully and put the antenna cable back.

This is the only way to save your old St2 with the good FM transmitter. No one really fixes these unless somethings in it for them, like resale of the unit. Take it into your own hands.
