Here's another option. But no SMA.

Here is another good source of parts. I believe there is no 'minimum' order, however they do charge $5 if your order is less than $25.

www.digikey.com

Go to this link and scroll down to the 'Connectors, RF, SMA' section and see if any of these will get you there.

I am a huge fan of buying the tools and doing it my self. You gain a lot of knowledge, and you'll make a lot of friends that way!

The issue here is that I have an outdoor "home" antenna with an SMB connector on it. It's one from the home kit that came with a cradle. I want to get that signal into my house via some existing, but unused, RG6, that's about 12-feet long. I know there's an impedance mismatch there, but I think it will work fine. Then inside the house I want an adapter for and F-connector to SMB-male to get to the radio. I'm a cheap you-know-what and want to find a $10 solution rather than order a CATV kit and get yet another antenna that I don't really need.

OK, so you have the push-on connector on the end of a hinged type outdoor antenna and want to go to an F connector. In all of my searches I have never seen one of those. Considering that the SMB connectors are $3-5 alone I think that the $15+ range for a custom cable would be what your looking at.

Yeah all that is needed is a barrel connector with SMB on one side and F connector on the other. A very simple adapter, similar to an F-81 for RG-6 coax. I'm not sure if they exist because all you ever find are the premade pigtail type jumpers. I've seen a lot of stuff that LOOKS like it, but hard to say from the pics. I just got lazy and payed the $30 for the premade stuff.

Good finds 98Silverado. Those connectors on Ebay look slick! But holy crap you're payin for it!

Well, this thread convinced me to just fork out the $$$. Just ordered the CATV install kit. What the heck, it's only money...and it'll extend my enjoyment of Sirius, so I guess in the end I'll get more for that subscription

Since I'm just going to use a currently unused length of RG6 that runs from the outside to the inside of my house, I think I'm just going to connect that right to the new Sirius antenna in this kit. No need to diplex CATV onto that RG6 since that alread comes in on a separate run.

You could have ordered the home distribution kit, and run 2 radios from 1 antenna.

Yeah, definitely don't diplex unless you need to.. I'm doing basically what you're doing, but I'm just gonna use the standard home antenna since I didn't get the whole kit. I just got the 2 SMB jumpers that terminate in F connectors since I have all the means to work with the RG-6 already. Shelled out the dough..

I don't know how much Brianwebb wants to take on, but for anyone who's following this thread and needs something that we've discussed, he can get probably get it. I'm not sure if he's looking for plugs, but as mentioned previously, he's the guy.. Excellent communicator.

Yep, that was another option. But I don't have, or expect to have, a need for 2 radios in the house. And I do expect to be moving to a new home and will eventually use the CATV diplexers.

Well, I'm finished with my install. Nice and neat.

Out of the back of the docking station I ran a 3 ft SMB to F connector. Connected to that there's a 4 ft RG-6 jumper to the wall. I installed a wall jack to screw it into. Actually I added a F-81 connection to the punchout Leviton plate I already had there, sharing with a CAT5 network connection. This continues RG-6 under the house to a vent where I have another F connector to SMB jumper. Here the jumper connects to the home antenna cord from the home kit. The antenna is just outside hidden at ground level. Good reception. All the wires are hidden at the home stereo end.

For this install you will need 2 types of F Connector to SMB jumpers. One which I will call male to plug into the PnP docking station, and another with a female SMB to connect to the antenna cord. I'm calling these both SMB although I think one is technically SMA, but I don't really care cause it's done and it works.

Also this weekend I did a slick install of a docking station in my 96 Firebird. And I cleaned my closet too if anyone cares.
