Question 2006 Ford Explorer - FM Direct Adapter

Factory radio with no AUX port. I wanted to do the FM Direct Adapter installation. I ordered the kit from Sirius and the Ford adapter (Ford FM Antenna Adapter (40-FD30)) from tss-radio. However, the Ford's antenna does not match up with either one. I've done this same thing in my Chevy S-10 without any difficulty.

Has anyone installed the FM Direct Adapter in the 2006 Explorer? Thanks.

Default An attempt to add pictures of the Ford's Attena

The first picture is the end of the antenna. The 2nd is of the back of the radio. They aren't very good though, taken with my cell phone camera in bad light.

Is this the adapter that you were referring to?

Which radio do you have?

I don't know about the newer Explorers, but on some of the older models some of the radios could control an external CD changer and USA-Spec makes an aux-in for them.

Edit: They don't make a unit for the '06 Explorer.

According to metra-autosound.com, the 40-CR30 is the correct adapter for the 2006 Explorer. Looking at it, the picture looks right.

I don't know if they are different, but I just got the 40-FD10 and FD20 - instead of the 30. I probably paid a little more, but I got it right at Circuit City, and just installed it, it works great!
