Default Did I get screwed by billing?

My original subscription for my starmate replay that has been broken for months was going to end tomorrow ( Jan. 13, 2007). It was a 1 year plan. I also have a stilletto that works great and planned on just using that from now on. So i called sirius today to make sure i would not be charged for another year for the starmate replay tomorrow. It looks like I got charged a cancellation fee plus an event adjustment fee. Now i owe about $80, and its due by the end of today. Should i have gotten charged a cancellation fee even though i am still a member because i am still using the stilletto?

Yes, you got screwed. If you were calling to tell them not to renew your anual sub on it's due date tomorrow then it should nto be counted as cancelling an existing contract and you should NOT be charged anything. The $80 is bogus and you should call to have them straighten it out. I'd be pretty pissed when I called them back...

3. Cancellation Fee: If you cancel your Subscription prior to the end of a prepaid Subscription or committed Subscription period, we may charge you a cancellation fee of up to $75.00.

b) Your Cancellation. You may cancel your Subscription at any time by notifying Customer Care. This notice will become effective at the end of your billing cycle. If you cancel your Subscription prior to the expiration of a prepaid Subscription (that is not a lifetime Subscription), you will receive a refund of amounts you may have prepaid on a quarterly, annual or multi-year basis representing those months beyond the billing cycle month during which you cancelled your Subscription. Month-to-month Subscriptions and Lifetime Subscriptions are nonrefundable. If your Subscription was included in the financing of your purchase or lease of a vehicle, any refund will be payable to your finance company unless the finance company has notified us that your loan has been paid in full. In addition, if you cancel your Subscription prior to the expiration of a prepaid subscription or committed subscription period, you may be charged a cancellation fee as described in Section 5. Service credits will not be refunded in cash, but will be honored in the form of service for the remaining length of the credit.

Although, if your account had NOT been prorated, like Sirius usually does, you should talk to customer care. IF they prorated, your sol. Your year would have renewed at the beginning of the month.

true, but he was calling at the end of his pre-paid term to tell them not to renew it. He wasn't trying to cancel before his term was up. I'm glad they removed the $80 charge.
