Default Using FM Tuner with Sirius Boombox

Hi, I have the Sirius Stratus with the Universal Plug and Play boombox. I love it, everything works great. However, I noticed that FM Tuner capability is blocked out while using the boombox. Is there anyway to bypass this block? I would like to set up FM radios around the house to tune into Sirius as well.

i have a stratus that i use with a universal home dock when i use the fm tuner it seems to have a range of about 3 feet these newer receiver fm tuners are rather useless since the fcc neutered them

Are you serious?

When I DID have a receiver and FM Tuner I would be able to walk all around my house with a FM Walkman and still get perfect reception.

My Stratus' FM transmitter is disabled in my universal boom box If I bring up the menu on the screen and try select the FM transmitter option, it doesn't respond.. I don't get the frequency selection or the on/off option. The FM menu It only works in the home dock and the vehicle dock.

My Starmate 3 behaves similarly.. The transmitter is disabled as well in the boom box.... Not only that, but the FM options don't even appear on the menu... There's a quick check frequency button on the face of the Starmate that normally displays the FM frequency you're on when you press it and it doesn't respond either when the unit is in the boom box.

If you want whole house capabilities, you'll need to get an external FM transmitter like the CCrane..

I bought my sirius sportster in December of 2005. The FM Transmitter goes pretty far (for something like that, anyway) I can hear it outside of my house, even across the street when tuned to an empty frequency. How weak are the new ones?

That is strange, my Sportster replay boombox allows turning on the transmitter.

I record howard to cassette every night to listen at work the next day. I don't have a home dock, so I use the boombox and turn on the FM transmitter and use a regular boombox to record it. However, the FM is so weak, especially in the boom box, the I literally have to set the Cassette Recorder up directly in front or behind the boombox, so that it is touching. If the recorder is 2 inches away, no signal.

Yes.. Older boom boxes didn't disable the FM transmitter.. But for some reason, the new Sirius SUBX1 Boombox does.. I guess it's in response to complaints of these transmitters causing interference.. But they are SO low powered now, I can't see that being a problem....

I just hope this boom box stays UNIVERSAL and that all future receivers will fit it.. That way I won't have to buy a new boom box when I upgrade a few years from now.. (I have an old Audiovox boom box that's no good anymore )

If your equipment becoming obsolete is an issue with you, call up their account line and maybe they will "accommodate" you.
