Default trouble with antenna connection into unit

suddenly a few weeks ago i've started getting 'antenna not detected' errors. if i wiggle the end of the antenna where it plugs into the unit (starmate replay), the error will go away but then come back. i can get it fixed eventually but a few days later it will randomly happen again.

any ideas?

Is it when you move the antenna coax that the signal comes back?

Or do you have to wiggle the actual connector to get the signal to come back?

i have to wiggle the connector while it is plugged into the radio. i highlighted the piece i have to wiggle (or sometimes apply light pressure on) to get signal back. if i apply light pressure, usually as soon as i let go, i get the 'antenna not detected' error immediately.

Here's something to try. Look inside the plug. You'll see a center "pin". With a tiny screwdriver, ever-so-gently bend it. I'm talking a slight bend...essentially barely enough that you can see it off-center. The idea here is to bend it slightly such that when the plug is inserted into the jack, that center pin will seat on the wall inside the jack.

It's possible the problem is the jack of the radio (or cradle) too. But I'd try the above and see if that helps. Let us know what you find!

Sad child I am having the exact same problem. I have the original sportster and I am on my 5th antenna for this thing. Did the idea moving the pin inside the antenna work?

I'm having the same exact problem on my original Sportster, and it just began this week. It seems to happen 5 minutes after powering on the unit and is just maddening. Wiggling the connector makes no difference.
I will try the suggestion about bending the center pin on the barrel jack connector I guess. Thanks.
