John, I really appreicate you coming here and explaining things to us. This actually is the first time I have seen such support from a supplier.

I have a 2007 Acura MDX/Technology package. Would it be helpful for me to document all the steps or tests I went through in attempting to get the HON-SC1 to work? And what were the results from each test? I would be willing to sit down and do that.

Sure, that would be useful... I have harvested some of that info already & added it to a database I started to track issues for the two interface models, but additional detail can't hurt. Let me know if you need my mail address again to send to.

Thanks,

John

Your STS has an 11-bit LAN bus, this is one of the vehicles that GM transitioned to LAN earlier than most. The SIRGM1 is not compatible with that vehicle.

Sorry not to have better news!

Cadillac

2004-2007 CTS (must have BAND button)
2003-2006 Escalade/EXT/ESV (must have Factory Satellite Connection Present)
2003-2005 DeVille (must have Factory Satellite Connection Present)
2004-2006 SRX (must have Factory Satellite Connection Present)
2005-2008 XLR (must have Factory Satellite Connection Present)

Is there anyway I can get the converter to work?

I want to know before I buy it and it ends up not working.

I already have a sportster but this would make my life 100 times easier.

Any info is appreciated.

John,,

Similar information request as per ww055's question, except I have just purchased a "Pontiac G5 SE" c/w XM integated radio. The G5 is not listed as a vehicle that the "Gm converter to Sirius" works. Do you have any information whether it does or does not work? XM reception is awfull where I live due to moutainous terrain, however Sirius works just fine.

Thanks

I bought a 2006 Pontiac Pursuit (Canadian version of g5 for a year or two. Now it's the G5). I've been doing tons of research to see if the SIR-GM1 would be compatible. Mainly, if the car is a Class-II radio bus or LAN-based. I contacted GM about it and they confirmed that the vehicle is LAN-based. I assume yours is too. Therefore, we need to wait for the SIR-GM3A to be released. It was announced like a year ago, and has been delayed ever since.

Sorry for lag in responding, I missed this one... but the other guys are correct, G5 is LAN, the 11-bit variety.

Hey all, just curious about the SIR-GM1 and the need to get its firmware updated?

I also have an S50 and had to go through that whole firmware upgrade process after the unit started skipping and losing the satellites recently. I am noticing the SIR-GM1 is doing that now too...

Is there an update for that as well?

Bump! Still having sporadic cut outs on my Sirius service driving around and am curious if there is an update for the SIR-GM1 device as there was for the S50??

Thanks!

Default 2009 HONDA PILOT (XM to Sirius???)

Hi, have not been on here in a while, but you guys helped a bunch with my last 2 cars. Just got a new Honda Pilot 2009 Touring edition with the builtin Nav and XM. Well, as you might guess, I am looking at ways to change the Xm for Siruis. I see there is a adaptor setup for hondas??. HON-SC-SC1 or something like that on TSSradio. My big issue is I would like to keep the dask stock and simply change out the receiver or such, I thought I even saw an antenna conversion kit so it would be invisible??
Any one out there know if this is possible or will I be the test case??
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

You really never know when converting, until you try or witness someone trying. After much asking/looking into it, I tried putting the SIR-GM1 into my 08 Corvette (loaded, with NAV, etc) and many said the unit does NOT work with that setup, including more than one radio installer I visited.

A few people on the Corvette Forums said they'd done the conversion, and that it worked... so I recently tried it out, and it works fine.

Others might, too.

I think the main reason a lot thought it wouldn't work is that a lot of the compatibility sheets for it were outdated. On the new ones it officially lists the 2008 Corvette as compatible.

Glad that it worked. I should check out the Corvette Forums. We just started to advertise over there to help promote the SIRGM1.

It's said that the NAV unit didn't work due to that whole LAN/bus stuff I don't really know much about. I'd seen the sheet saying "some 08 Vettes" .. and local installers even made phone calls asking, then coming back to me and saying I'd have to wait for the SIR-GM3... which turned out to be quite wrong.

.. and believe me, a lot of people on the CF's know about the SIR-GM1, but I don't know how many know about TSS Radio.. though a guy in Arizona (who has the same setup as me and has SIR-GM1 working) helped me.. he also told me he has a connector cable to use the XM antenna with the Sirius unit, for a better fit... so I ordered mine last night from TSS, due to the loose connection, and my desire to keep the car looking clean, antenna-wise.
