Default Advice on New Radio

I have had XM for several years. Recently I bought a new car that came with Sirius, so I'm going to cancel my XM account, buy a new radio for home/other car and setup the new radio on my Sirius account.

I have an XM Myfi. One of the features I like is the FM transmitter. I like being able to listen to XM on my clock radio without have to connect any cables.

I've heard that the newer XM radios have the FM transmitter disabled except when they are in the car dock. Has Sirius done this also?

I'm looking for a basic radio that has a car and home dock available and the FM transmitter will work in the home dock.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Thumbs up

I suggest trying the SIRIUS XACT Visor as it has a great FM Mod. It is not produced any longer but you can probably find one on EBAY. Good luck.

Get the SL2... You'll never need another radio/MP3 player.

My Sportster 3 lets me use the FM transmitter when it's on the home dock.

But the older units use to have the FM transmitter built into the car dock, so obviously you could only use the transmitter when it was in the car dock in this case.

I have an SL2 and love it, but I have to admit I still love some of the features my Inno offers. It's frustrating to record something you really like but not have any way to lock it so it doesn't get recorded over later on.

It's also frustrating to record something and have it disappear with no warning a day or so later. But not-recording-as-advertised does seem to be the single, largest defect with S2's.
People who don't do programmed recordings or keep recordings for any length of time, don't even see that one problem.

Though I have no experience with XM receivers, I'm sure you'll get used to operational differences (ie channel changing) of the S2 rather quickly.

The ability to `love' individual songs from replays is the only S50 feature I miss. But, of course, your first recovery or `reset and erase' would throw that advantage right out the window anyways. Still, my first S2 has already last longer (recording anomalies aside) than any of my 4, S50's.
