Default Intermittent audio from JVC SR-1000

Seems as though my SR-1000 is trying to die. Intermittently the audio drops. I swapped my spare cradle to it, and the behavior did not change, so it's in my PnP.

I've had it apart, I've looked at the solder connections, but I can't find any glaring defects. I'm certain that it's a loose solder connection or cracked PCB. It stops working when it get's warm, or whenever the unit is jarred by a bump in the road. Tapping the unit on it's side will bring back the audio, until the next bump anyway.
Does anyone know where to find some schematics for this thing?

Yes, I should replace it, but I like this unit.
I can't find a replacement that has buttons arranged like I like them, and I've always liked the "PDA" style form factor. I will attempt to repair this unit for more than it's worth simply because I like the layout so well. I don't care that the advanced features like gamezone and such don't work.

If you want to suggest a new unit then please, find me one that is similar in size to this one, has a PDA style form factor, has 10 preset buttons that are large enough for me to operate with a gloved hand and I will go buy it.

Having an intermittent connection is really starting to frustrate me, especially since my beater Honda DD has the crappiest factory radio on the planet.

I know what you mean about the appeal of the old-generation radios. We have an Audiovox PNP2 (from 2003, like your JVC) that's in everyday use in our kitchen--same size as your JVC, but in landscape orientation instead of portrait. The 10 large buttons are very convenient.

Anyway, I doubt there's a schematic available for any Sirius radio. But since your JVC's problem seems to be heat-related, you might try powering it on without the case, then spraying some compressed air (using a straw) in one spot at a time to see if the audio cuts out. The cold blast might cause a mechanical contraction (once the radio's warmed up), which at least might help isolate where the problem is. If it's a cold solder joint, that's easy to touch up.

Well, it finally came time to retire my SR-1000.
Best as I could tell the fault was in the RF section of the receiver.
I simply don't have the proper equipment or schematics to affect a repair. I just swapped my spare SR-2000 receiver. I'll miss the SR-1000, the 2000 was originally purchased to replace it, but I went back to the 1000 and gave the 2000 to my wife. She's since been upgraded to an SL2, so the 2000 was sitting in the back of my random electronics closet.
