Portability_On: Sirius Satellite Radios Go From Car to Home Starting In June
Wednesday May 21, 9:32 am ET
* Kenwood 'Here2Anywhere' and Audiovox 'Satellite Radio Shuttle' to Arrive At Retailers In June
* Only 'Plug & Play' Products to Offer 100 Streams of Sirius Premium Programming

NEW YORK, May 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SIRIUS (Nasdaq: SIRI - News), known for delivering the very best in commercial-free music and premium broadcast entertainment, will soon enable consumers to listen to their favorite music and entertainment in the car, home, boat and office. Arriving in time for summer, "Plug & Play" satellite radios from Kenwood and Audiovox, will be the first portable SIRIUS radios to hit the retail market.

(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/19991118/NYTH125 )
The launch of the Kenwood Here2Anywhere(TM) and Audiovox S.R.S. Satellite Radio Shuttle(TM) marks the first time SIRIUS listeners can take 100 streams of premium music, news and entertainment everywhere they go. Sold with separate docking kits for the home and car, the new portable "Plug & Play" units allow subscribers to easily use the same unit in their car, home, office and boat, all for one subscription price of only $12.95 a month. SIRIUS also offers a "Preferred Plan," whereby an additional subscription is only $6.99 a month, after the initial $12.95, and a "Lifetime of Music & More" plan, good for the life of the radio, for only $399.99.

"From day one, SIRIUS has been committed to providing subscribers with unmatched choices in premium audio programming. Now SIRIUS has extended that commitment to include unparalleled choice in hardware," said Joseph P. Clayton, SIRIUS President and CEO. "With "Plug & Play" products from two of the country's premiere electronics manufacturers, we're offering consumers the ability to choose how and where they listen to their favorite artists and talk programming."

Kenwood Here2Anywhere

The Kenwood Here2Anywhere(TM) (Model KTC-H2A1) connects with any car, home, personal computer, or marine audio system, providing listeners with 100 streams of SIRIUS programming wherever they go. Utilizing a very intuitive program guide menu system similar to today's television programming guides, the Here2Anywhere is simple to use and quick to operate. Listeners can see what's playing on other streams by song title or artist name before selecting. An additional key feature of the Here2Anywhere is a memory and recall feature that will allow the listener to capture up to 24 song titles and the associated artist names while they are listening. The feature will allow the listener to call up those song titles or artist names in the future by the simple touch of a button. The Kenwood Here2Anywhere has a MSRP of $99.95. The Car Docking Kit or Home Docking Kit will each retail for $69.95.

"We look forward to the impact that these new portable products will have on SIRIUS' market share," said Bob Law, senior vice president of Kenwood USA Corporation.

Audiovox S.R.S. Satellite Radio Shuttle(TM)

The S.R.S. Satellite Radio Shuttle is a transportable unit designed for total flexibility that allows you to experience SIRIUS in almost every environment. The unit has two features that are the first ever for satellite radio. First, the SIR-CK1 Car Kit features an FM transmitter with four frequency adjustments incorporated into the docking station for a wireless connection to virtually any vehicle radio. Also, the SIR-PNP1 Receiver unit is the first ever satellite radio system built with a feature called S-Seek. The first-of-its-kind feature allows a listener to capture up to 10 favorite songs in the unit, which can continually search the incoming SIRIUS streams and prompt the listener when one of these songs is playing. With the touch of a button, the unit can be tuned to that stream, allowing the listener to hear his or her favorite songs anywhere, all the time. The S.R.S. has a MSRP of $99.95. The Car Dock and Home Dock kits will retail for $69.99 - $89.99.

"Audiovox is extremely excited about the introduction of the Satellite Radio Shuttle," said Pat Lavelle, president of Audiovox Electronics Corporation. "With the capability for the listener to take the Shuttle from car to car or car to home, the opportunity to enjoy Sirius in any location has great appeal."

Don't know about you, but that feature alone makes me want to wait for the Audiovox. That kicks butt!!!

Also, the $99 price for both units should catapult Sirius into the big time.

This would be great to share between friends and family to get them hooked on Sirius. The integrated wireless FM mod makes it easy to connect on the fly.

So it's the Audiovox rather than the Kenwood which has the ability to let you know if a song you want to hear is playing on some other station?

They both have this feature. Audiovox is just hyping it up more.

Looks like the Audiovox got a significant restyling. It looks much cooler and thinner.

That looks great. It looks smaller and more durable as well. I hope that the real product looks likes this, because it kind of looks like a computer rendition, which isn't always accurate.

If it holds up to the promises, this will replace the SKYFi for me.

How am I supposed to decide which one to buy? I swear I'm going to have a nervous breakdown before this is all over.

The new Audiovox styling looks awesome! They have the right idea. The SkyFi works great so just copy it and make it look cooler. Very nice, these portables are really gonna give Sirius a boost.

No definitive date has been announced. Sirius says summer. I say late June or early July.

What is the difference between the Kenwood and Audiovox systems in the song storage department? They have slightly different names(Audiovox's is S-Seek or something), and Audiovox claims to have the first of it, while the Kenwood is coming out before.
