I stopped by my local best buy here in Connecticut today (6/2/03). The car audio guy said they got thier warehouse deliveries today, and NO, NONE, ZIPPO, NADA, Kenwood H2A's where in the shipment. He told me to check Thurs, when they usually get another order.

He was aware of the H2A, and said several customers have been either calling or coming in asking for the H2A. He then quckly changed the topic and tried to sell me a Sirius Kenwood FM modulated package...I said that wasn't what I am here for and walked away.

After, because I take everything I hear from store employess with a grain of salt. I even looked on top of the display racks where they keep thier stock in case it slipped by him, no H2A's up there.

I was wondering:
If BB's wharehouses have it, are they "holding" them awaiting some approval from BB execs, or maybe Siriuses OK to release them to the stores and sell em'?? Or maybe are they "sandbagging" them for this "father's day" ad push coming up?

The Bay Area regional distribution centers for BB have them in stock, but stores won't get them until Thursday. So, I can only assume the same for other areas, you probably won't see them until Thursday. Perhaps later depending on how many each D.C. is getting.

There is another problem, H2A home kits are listed as backordered for the Bay Area. They hope to get them in stock in time for Thursday, but, it might not happen.

No word on Car Kits.

How can we find out this informaiton like for Louisiana? When you say no word on the car kits? That means they don't have them and no word as to when they will? What gives? I hope they aren't going to do all this promoting and then Kenwood can't deliver the product.. that would be just lovely...

When I say no word on Car Kits, I mean that we don't know if they will be available or not. SOMEONE didn't ask!

Why, I resemble that remark. :-) I didn't need the car kit, so I didn't bother to inquire about it.

Siriusly, DABSter, have you tried going to a local Best Buy with the SKU in hand? They should be able to do an inventory search for your region.

I just cancelled my Crutchfield pre-order so I hope these show up in BB by this weekend. Crutchfield is still showing the $129 price for the H2A so I was getting a little worried I'd buy one in BB this weekend for $99 and then I get home and find an email from crutchfield saying my order had just shipped.

Isn't it kind of strange how excited we all got. Now it seems Crutchfield is just kind of out of the loop. I haven't canceled mine just yet, but I am certainly thinking about it.

Seems BestBuy.com is now taking orders online. But they are saying 5 to 7 days before shipping. The car cradle is in stock. Seems like all the retailers are having problems getting the home kits so far. But maybe, just maybe by the end of the week they will be in stock all over.

Best Buy has them listed on their website for $93

http://www.bestbuy.com/detail.asp?e=...3021&scat=3023

I placed my order today. I will get it when I get it. I was getting sick of calling everyday anyhow.

The Milpitas, CA store gets deliveries every Monday or Tuesday, I don't remember which he said. Maybe he said Monday therefore check on Tuesdays. Anyway I'll check this afternoon. If they don't have it in stock I'll order it from the web site overnight and pay the shipping. That way I'll hopefully have it for the weekend.

So here's the ugly on availability. You're going to think I'm crazy but I visited 4 Best Buys the last 2 days.
3 of them say they don't have it. I asked when the next truck comes and I'll be checking back with them again but none of them were more help than that. One of them attempted to order one for me but then said he couldn't. Friday, Friday, and Saturday on them is when I check back.
Actually one store did say they were getting 2, the other said they were getting 4.

The 4th is the East Palo Alto,CA store.
12 Are coming in tonight for tomorrow morning.
0 Home kits.
0 Car kits.
In other words, you can't use it.
I'll check back with him Thursday morning to confirm weather or not he got any kits with the units but he said it's not likely they'll get any cradles/kits until the end of next week (week ending the 13th.)

He says you'll get the cradles faster if you order it from bestbuy.com

I just got back from visiting a few area Best Buys and was able to look up in their system when they are receiving units. All of the stores in the metro-Atlanta area will be receiving the H2A as well as the car kit tonight, so they should be available for purchase tomorrow.

Just to ad to Pete's post, the Best Buy stores may be holding units for next weeks ad, if they are just put your name on it and pick it up Sunday. Or better yet just beg the Manager, they never want to walk business...

Quite frankly, I don't think any of these Best Buys around here have any clue about the ads. They don't even believe me when I say they should be getting units in any day now.

Well I certainly hope these stores will be getting more than 3 or 4 units. Our Lafayette store, told me they got 4 car cradles, but no Tuners. They were amazed that it was just the car cradles only. Told me they have been getting several calls a day about it now. The thing is they said they were getting 4 units in. So, Best Buy is going to do this big ad with little to no product on the store shelves. Boy if this isn't so typical of what has gone on in the past. I am sorry, but something stinks to high heaven here. I am not sure where the problem lies, but its either Best Buy or Kenwood that has some issues. Now we are finding out that no stores have home kits and isn't that REALLY the whole purpose behind getting one of these Plug & Play Units. So, who's screw up is this? Best Buy or Kenwoods? I think it seems to be a Kenwood problem with supply.

I'd say it's more of a Kenwood problem with distribution if people cross country don't know where the home kits are.

I guess it's a good thing I'm not among the first in line for these. *innocent whistle*
