You could try selling it and recovering the Lifetime Fee or a big portion of it. The problem with the lifetime deal is there will always be better and better equipment that will make you wanting it. Even the PNP2 will not be so great 1 year or even possibly months from now when others come out.

That is the killer part of the Lifetime plan, you are basically stuck with what you've got no matter how much nicer the newer equipement gets. This is why I would never get that, because I am a new equipment junkie.

This SIRPNP2, looks pretty darn sweet with lots of improvments, shame they didn't work on the size. But then if they had done that it would not have fit in the same cradles. So, you win some, you loose some. Looks very nice though, except for that funky orange.

According to the manual, the width and the height are the same, but the depth of this new one is LARGER!

5.19W x 3.4H x 1.45D

5.19W x 3.4H x 1.87D

They could actually work on the height and thickness and have it still fit in the cradle. The other thing is if they had worked on making major physical changes, we would have had to wait 6mo or longer to see it. It really does look like the PNP1 was a prototype for this product

Yikes! What do you bet this one goes in the BoomBox?

I really hope that thing isn't .42" deeper. It is already big enough. I would have taken the PNP1 to save almost half an inch.

But it does kill some XMers thoughts that there is a once a year release of new products.

Looks like they did... LOL, they made it thicker as Joshua says. The way the cradles have air vents, they would have practically had to redesign it to change the specs on it. Is there an ETA for release of this jewel? It may in fact be awhile before it hits the shelves. This also explains why there has continued to be supply problems, because they knew they were coming out with this new version.

However, in reviewing the features, I still do see an auto-on feature for when you have it in your vehicle and turn off the ignition and then restart again. Right now you have to manually turn it back on. With all the other auto features they should have included this one. Maybe its there, just not listed.

This one would look a whole lot better in a boombox than the old one. A lot of people that got the PNP1 hoping for a boombox will be mad though, unless both will fit in the boombox. It will destroy the look though, if the boombox looks like this one, which I am guessing it will.

Very nice improvement in style, apart from the awful color. Ack!

I don't see how both could work in a boombox since one is thicker than the other. They need to slide in to make a connection, so the thinner version might slide in, but it wouldn't look right. So my educated guess is only one of these wil work in the boombox.

Has there EVER REALLY been a confirmation of a boombox from Audiovox in particular???

I agree with Jeff, love the features, but the color is a big turn off for me. I can't imagine why they made it thicker, LORD this thing is thick enough! But I think its still possible to have a boombox that would work for both units if there is a boombox coming!

I could be wrong, but I think Clayton mentioned it in the 2nd quarter CC and said it would be out in Oct/Nov time frame. I'm also pretty sure it's going to be an AudioVox.

They said in the 2Q03 conference call that the boombox will **SOON** be upon us.

One more feature I noticed: the screen is about 15% taller and 5% wider, with what looks to be finer pixels. It definitely fills in some of that negative space:

I wish Kenwood would adopt this form factor. They can at least make it extra pretty.

While I'm making my wish list, I'd love to see the in the center of the jog wheel. And make sure he lights up.
