Good point Ryan. 5 choices to 1. Of course you could almost count the roady as 1/2 or 3/4 because of it's features and size. I think we are still waiting for the 5th (JVC) aren't we.

That depends on if they continue to make the Audiovox SIRPNP1 or not. Will it simple be replaced by the SIRPNP2? The choice is nice there is no doubt about it.

I am using the Roady as a portable myself, you have to plug and unplug three wires though so its not really a portable unit, its just so small that folks don't seem to mind moving it like a portable.

JVC and a boombox is still vaporware at this point. Amazing that XM has been able to grow so quickly with just the Skifi. Sometimes choice is a good thing and sometimes its not.

XMFan found out about this. I wonder how long until they start complaining about size? I know many are going to be jealous of the alarm clock.

Maybe it will be like NHL. Want it, but when Sirius gets it, 'it isn't that good'; 'it will take up talk streams'.

I heard the dimensions of the SIRPNP2 were wrong in the manual. It's supposed to be the exact same size as teh PNP1.

There were many already saying they were jealous it has the clock and alarm etc. I also read post saying they were going to get SIRIUS instead of another XM sub too. There were those that were saying SIRIUS now has NBA and NHL so they are becoming the sports leader for sure. So, if this is what it take for SIRIUS to get it going... GREAT! I am glad to see this new unit as well as the NHL annoucement. Keep it going SIRIUS!!

Manco, with it being the same size, this means if there is a boombox that either the PNP1 or 2 will work.

True, and this is very smart on AudioVox's part. They eventually need to go for a smaller unit, but in order to get one out quickly it was easier to just go with the same package. I hope the JVC adds something new in the size and features dept. If this all comes out in qty for the Christmas season, it should be a good quarter for Sirius.

It's surely looking good, the more floor space you have with products, the better off you are. They will have many products to display and demo.

I also agree that it is a wise move to have left the size the same on this round, but all those cool features are going to be so nice! But I think eventually we will begin to see some smaller units. I am not sure they can do it with the current chipset, but we shall see what JVC does. Heck, they may be the ones with the boombox.

At this point I don't care who comes out with the boombox, so long as it's out by Christmas and it's better than the SkyFi Boombox. I would like to see a Boombox that has AM/FM/CD + Sirius (and with a handle )

Well at least now it makes sense why the Streamer wasn't supposedly going to be offered at retail except at Petro and one other truck stop chain.

Wonder who REALLY makes the guts of these things? And if the Streamer and the Audiovox PNP2 are really any different inside?

My guess is AudioVox makes the guts and oem's the package to Pana-pacific. I seriously doubt there are any differences between the two internally, but it would be interesting to tear the two apart and see. Any Volunteers?

I'm sure that they are essentially the same inside, except for wires going to slightly different places to reflect different buttons.

Now, if you guys remember, Sirius_rich mentioned in his streamer report that there is a new smaller antenna, like XMs. One of the photos also mentioned that the antenna pictured(the SIR3 lookalike) was not the same antenna. Now, I wonder if the kits will start coming with the new antenna like Delphi is doing? Now that would be cool. Plus, no adapter required to go from old to new PNP antenna, unlike XM.

Actually, now I'm not so sure that these are the same. The buttons are in radically different places, and they go in the cradles differently. Look at the location of the electronics connector in the cradle here: http://www.brocato.net/streamer/Streamer-Flyer.gif

BTW: anyone else notice that the name of the song in most of the advertising(other than the red dirt road song) is 'chicks dig it'?

BTW2: This looks like the first OEM windshield mount I've seen. Plus, the cradles for the streamer definitely look smaller. If the features are the same as the SIRPNP2, that would be my PNP of choice.

Also look at the cradels. It looks like the connection is on the bottom instead of the back like the SIRPNP1 is. Maybe they are not the same.

Definitely not the same package and the connectors are indeed in a different location. It's also taller than the SIRPNP2 as far as I can tell. My guess is they OEM the main board with Firmware from AudioVox and add a different board for display/keyboard and connector. Having a connector on bottom seems like a better idea than having one on the back like the Vox PNP1.

Chicks Dig It on the screen, I doubt that was a coincidence

How does the window mount work?

I said it before and I will say it again.

I WANT A STREAMER.
I WANT A STREAMER.
I WANT A STREAMER.

I have seen NOTHING to change that.
