Default NEW Audiovox SIRPNP2 Receiver (updated Shuttle)

http://www.audiovox.com/webapp/wcs/s...2572&langId=-1

It looks cooler than the SIRPNP1, and I'm guessing is improved; should I hold out for it? How long should I expect to wait?

Thanks for any feedback!

Cool! Looks like the "Streamer" that was just announced made by Pana-Pacific. Or maybe AudioVox makes it and OEM's it.

I like the added features of Clock, Sleep Timer and the additional song storage capabilities, but I'm not sure it's worth waiting for. It looks like it's a similar size to the SIRPNP1.

Sweet!! I think I'm gonna sell my SIRPNP1 and get that to replace it (But I'm still waiting paiently for the JVC). It looks a lot like the Streamer. I think Manco is right that Audiovox probably makes the Streamer and OEM's it. By the way thanks for posting it and welcome to SiriusBackstage.

It looks like it could be the same dimensions on the front side as the SIRPNP1. I bet it plugs into the same cradles. This has a very nice look to it and should play even better against the SkyFi than the PNP1 does.

I could see both this and forthcoming boombox being a big seller for Christmas.

I would consider getting this model for home and getting the lifetime subscription for it.

I was just looking at that. I think you are right that they probably use the same cradels.

Wow- since they are the same size, who would want the PnP1 if they saw it next to the PnP2? Maybe once the PnP1 stock is exhaused, the PnP2 is all they'll sell.

Maybe that's why the AudioVox PnP1 unit I ordered with the Friends n Family program remains on backorder- maybe they are out of PnP1's and will ship me a PnP2 when they catch up!

(Hey, I can dream, can't I?)

EDIT AS OF 11/21/03: Turns out there no need to dream- the AudioVox PnP2 unit is exactly what I got shipped to me last week!

When the PNP2 comes out, they will probably give away the extra inventory of the PNP1's in a F&F type deal. I don't want to crush your dreams, but I'm pretty sure you will get the PNP1. It's a nice unit anyway, I really like mine.

HOLY MOLY BATMAN Now I wish I didn't get the 1st one.

I just wish that's a color changing display, but it doesn't look like it. Hope that the display is still viewable from every angle.

It looks like the SkyFi Display so it probably has similar limitations.

They have the manual up. It confirms that the new one will use the same kits.

-Up to 20 songs now in S>Seek

-I don't know if this is in the 1st one, but you can turn on/off S>Seek(i.e. no beeping/works like the H2A as recall storage)

-AUTO DIMMER! The Shuttle will sense the light and set its display to correspond. This is optional.

-SAT and TERR in the antenna aiming display screen! And that is in regular mode, not 2-0-7 like XM.

-You have to set the clock to the time zone for the update, but it will automatically adjust for daylight savings time if you select it.

-Program alert: you can set the unit to automatically switch to stream XXX at whatever time you want.

-Alarm will go to the last stream on, AND it will beep so that it will still work if it is acquiring signal.

Sounds like some nice improvements.

Definitely some nice improvements. I like the Terrestrial aiming feature as we will know for sure if there's a repeater in the area.

I know this is going to sound a little mean, but I always thought the original Audiovox PNP looked like a prototype. Having looked at a PNP1 in the store, I still think it was a quick and easy design on the part of Audiovox.

The PNP2 appears to be the same packing size with some improvements in cosmetics, buttons, case, etc. However, this is still a large package in my view. Not as optimal as a Roady size.

I want Sirius for my car, but the PNP1 is too large. This new PNP2 may be no improvement at all. Additionally, it appears that the Streamer will be in the same size category.

I would like to know about the rumored JVC PNP. Does anyone have some info on the JVC unit?

FrasierDog, I think you are right it doesn't appear to be any improvements in size. I suppose it's possible it isn't as thick but the other dimensions look the same. No word on the JVC, but should be before Christmas.

Ack, I signed up for the lifetime sub on the SIRPNP1. So far I like the Streamer and PNP2 better (except for that terrible orange display). Too bad the lifetime sub isn't transferable.
