Looks ugly. Too much like some perverted iPod or something. Though I imagine it'll fit better in more cradles, so that's a good thing.

OK then.

So, will any new features be added to it, or will it have the color changing option the others have?

It looks like it will mirror the Streamer and PNP2 in terms of features.

mch, why don't you tell us how you really feel? LOL

As, I've been looking at it, its growing on me. I like the stand up design and it will look really killer sitting on a desk. It does appear to really fit nicely in that cradle, which is great! I was sure hoping for multi-colored backgrounds though as had been rumored, but my understanding is that really drives the cost up and if they were trying to reach a set cost, I can see why that feature didn't make it.

Jeff, you can delete those messages on the deminisions for the PNP2. We get carried away sometimes. Sorry about that!

While it does offer a small improvement in size, it will still be fairly close to the PNP2 in depth. I think that will be the challenge going forward, making them thinner.

However from a size perspective, I think the width and height is perfect. I saw the Roady in person for the first time last week and thought that it was too small (and cheap feeling). You reach a point where the tiny buttons and screen is a disadvantage.

I think this design will be really successful, the precusor to an iPod style satellite radio. The orange is nice, but I would have preferred white or blue. That seems to be the trend with Nokia, Sony and the other gadget powerhouses.

Limited distribution in December. Of course we'll have JVC spotting threads as they pop up.

I just noticed the remote eye and probably dimmer control is located right there at the bottom were the SIRIUS Logo is imprinted. That is neat...

Jeff, I think you may be right about this design the more I look at it the more I like it. I agree with you that smaller isn't always better. The Roady is nice, but it doesn't even come close to comparing to these last three PNP units that SIRIUS now has. I have a feeling the Boombox(s) from Audiovox, Brix and probably even JVC are going to be really sweet too.

I can really see this baby sitting upright on my desk though and having people say.. How Cool, what is that?

Do you remeber the Nokia candy bar phones in early 2000? They were bigger than anything else out there, but they sold like gangbusters.

In the past, candy bar-style phones were considered fuller-sized phones (compared to flips), and everyone bought them partially because their ergonomics were superior to anything else on the market.

I not only remember those phones, but I owned one.

To tell you the truth Jeff, I personally don't have an issue with the size of the current PNP units, though I know some wish they were a tad bit smaller to make for better installs in Auto's. I think over time they will be a bit smaller. This new design though that JVC has, I think is going to draw some interest. The XM'ers won't be able to call this baby a clone! Also even if the others were clones, they were OH SO MUCH better than the originals... Skifi and Sony

Ok, so we all pretty much know that DAB will have the first review when it comes out because he has had all the PnP units so far, J/K DAB.

As for the unit, it looks nice and all, but I don't think that I will replace my PnP2 with it, unless something happens to the PnP2 within my 2 year protection plan at CC.

Actually that is true... but I don't know if I'll be first on this one. I am pretty content with my PNP2, which is what I am using these days. But you all know me, I will never say never. If they happen to be available and I decide, you know I will indeed give my impressions. Though honestly, there is very little difference between the Brix Streamer, Audiovox PNP2 and now I suspect the JVC PNP. Really the design and form factor may be different, but that is about it along with the color of the display, though it seems the JVC and Audiovox PNP2 have the same color screens even though that picture makes the screen look red on the JVC.

Very interesting look. It will be unique, and just another PNP (now 5) out there to push Sirius sales, over XM's one.

I am disappointed they didn't offer the screen with the ability to change colors, but oh well.

One can only wonder what's next (Kenwood, are you listening?)
