Default Got the new Clarion PnP

Went out and bought the new Clarion PnP unit (home and car docks), at Frys (thx to Manco's advice) and since I also recieved my $75 Sirius stockholders rebate certificate yesterday, was good time to take the plunge. It is quite nice, smaller size than the Audiovox PnPs that I have. I will let you know more on it later....

Is this a new sub for you, or a replacement of one of your multiple(seven?) subs? And what is your receiver inventory now?

Did Fry's offer you to get one of the kits for free in store?

Look forward to pictures or your review

And what advice would that be? Does Fry's have some sort of deal going on now?

Joe was having trouble finding a Clarion in Phoenix, and I recommended he tried Fry's since I have seen them in the CA stores.

Frys was offering a free kit at time of purchase in the store I was in.

I just came back from Fry's here in Fremont, CA. I was very, VERY disappointed with what they offer there for satellite radio...and thats basically NOTHING. I only thing they had there and on display was the crappy JVC model and that ugly Kenwood H2A.

I asked the guy that worked there that if he had anything else, and he said. This is all they carry. Then I asked him about the Clarion because i wanted to see how it looked like, and he said Fry's doesn't carry the Clarion PNP models. At this point I was already pissed, I had driven 40+ miles to come back empty handed. Argh.

I asked the guy there again if there was another store around there (i'm not to familiar with Fremont) and he said try Circuit City. I found circuit city, and they had working displays of the Audiovox PnP2, Roady, SkyFi, and XM Commander.

I tried out the Audiovox and then I remembered why I hated Audiovox. Cheap products. I'm sorry folks, but I don't know how you guys could possibly like that terrible washed out orange screen. Much like the SkyFi. Maybe if it was in another color, it would've been better? I don't know, but quite frankly I was disappointed with the PnP2. Everything felt cheap, even the buttons like they would break easily. I used the XM Commander for a bit and that thing is VERY small. It's the same screen as the roady, it's pretty nice, but it's amazingly small. Not in a bad way, this was my first time seeing it and I didn't expect to see how small it was.

Anyway, sorry for this long post, but does ANYONE know WHERE in the bay area or central valley I can go to take a look of a WORKING Clarion PNP unit?

They didn't have any working models, but the Clarion was in good supply at the Fry's Electronics in Campbell, the one at 880 and Hamilton Ave.

Variety is the spice of life, just like opinions. My PNP2 doesn't have a washed out display and if yours does or did, then you've got a defective unit. The display on the PNP2 is NOTHING like the Delphi Skyfi and I know because I own one of those too. Not everyone is going to like every piece of equipment this is why they make various models so that everyone can find the one that is right for them. But please don't trash the Audiovox PNP2 because you don't like Audiovox from past experiences by saying everything felt cheap, even the buttons, because you have NO bases in fact to make that claim other than the fact that you seem to have something against Audiovox. Of course you are totally entitled to your opinion, I just strongly disagree.

By the way do you have a Tweeter in your area, they too carry the Clarion. I bought one there and of course brought it back, because I prefer the Audiovox

I looked at the new clarion, and it's OK. I agree with DAB, the audiovox PNP2 is nice. I purchased two of them against the strong recommendations of the circuit city sales guy who claimed they were poorly built and would "fail in a month or two".
Well, it's been two months and no problems yet! You sometimes have to take what people think with a grain of salt.

bcdog, what did the salesman propose you buy instead of the PNP2?

The salesguy (btw he was a BIG sirius fan) liked the Kenwood "here2anywhere". He thought the quality was good, and it could be installed "in-dash" as opposed to the pnp2's car cradle. He was really down on audiovox for some reason. I really didn't like Kenwood's little display.

Did exactly the same thing except I ordered mine through Crutchfield. This will be replacing my H2A which half the screen is completely dead and the other side is starting to go.

I wonder if we can also use the $50 rebate on top of the $75?
