Default Be wary of sportster boombox (returned mine today)

First the good: I get two bars with the antennae on the boombox as opposed to the car kit with one bar at the same spot (on a table outside).

Another good point: the volume on the sportster remote controls the boombox volume.

Now the bad: It is delicate. The carrying handle and antennae cable wrap guard feel like they could snap off.

Then the ugly: You snap your sportster in it, and use an eject button to pop it back out. Mine would pop out on its own. the catch that keeps the receiver in the boombox is very sensitive and the slightest bump of the table would cause the sportser to pop out.

I intend to get another one if they fix this. Please reply with your experience.

As far as sound goes, I never really listen to music, but the direct connection eliminates FM interference so that is good.

I heard from someone at Best Buy that this was the reason in the delay of them getting new shipments. He also said they were supposed to get new shipments starting yesterday that had been fixed. I am glad to SIRIUS catch and fix the problem so fast. I know alot of companies would have just cranking them out with out fixing them.

Did your boombox come with an extra screw? If your next one does, it goes in a hole in the battery compartment. This has been reported to fix it, although I didn't put mine in...I haven't had the problem yet.

I used my boombox for an extended period of time for the first time this weekend tailgating at the Florida/Florida State game. I have to say that after a couple hours (say 3?) whenever i tried to change channels on the sportster, it ejected from the boombox. The sportster stays connected and continues to play through the boombox, but is REALLY annoying and quite a turnoff.

Other then the unit getting really hot, the boombox worked really well for the six hour I was outside Doak Campbell tailgating. And then the next four were the greatest of my life as the Gators won in Tally for the first time in 18 years.

Did your boombox come with that extra screw? If it didn't I'd return it for a newer one that should have it in the box.

It did have a screw. No notes on what to do with it.

I am not going to get one until this is completely delt with. If they don't fix it, Ill just continue to use a car kit.

If you're having problems with your Sporster boombox, I'd just return it. There is a updated version of the boombox on the way that shouldn't have the problem, but I've been told that the screw isn't the 'official' fix.

no screw in mine. but even if it did, i'd rather not just put it in there. I really dont want to return in, b/c i am enjoying using the unit, but if need-be i will. I'll have to see when my 30 days is up and return it that day.
