Default Sportster install question...

I am thinking of ordering a sportser and installing it in my 2002 pathfinder with one of the pro fit vsm mounts ( http://www.pro-fit-intl.com/mount.htm ). I read somewhere that the sportster has an on/off switch or something on the back that prevents it from mounting properly on these mounts. Can anyone confirm this? Are there any ways around it?

One more newb question. Looking at this picture of the car dock, I don't really understand how it will attach to the mount.

Does the swivel part and the base come off so you just attach the actual cradle to the mount?

Thanks for the help.

There is no on-off switch on the back. It could be the lock for the cradle that interferes with it. You could either trim the bracket, drill a hole for the switch or trim the switch down itself (it is plastic).

There are flush machine screws on the back that can be removed to seperate the mount from the docking cradle. The new pro-fit mount uses those same screws. I think.

Does anyone know if the Audiovox PNP3 has the same issue with not fitting on the mount?

No, the cradle lock is a unique feature of the Sportster.
