Default Newbie Question about Sportster Models

Hey folks, sorry about the newbie question, but I have to ask.

Which model is newer; the SP-R1 or the SP-TK1?

I don't see much of a difference except the TK1 is in stores like Best Buy and the R1 is at places like Crutchfields and the like.

Anyways, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Joe

The R-1 is the Sporster packaged by itself, and the TK-1 is the Sportster bundled with a car kit. It's the same version of Sportster.

Then I would say that the buddled one is newer

Have they worked out the issues that people are having with Sportsters (ie - skipping, slowdown, etc) or is this still an issue with models currently on the shelf?

I have bought 3 sportsters within the last month and I have not experienced any of these issues. They may have corrected the problem.

Just wait.... you're starting to reach the end.... they usually crap out after 4-8 weeks. I have personally seen 2 do it, and reading on here have seen plenty more.

Beware of the Sportster. I am a big sports fan and bought one because of its features. The damn things (at least the 4 I went through) have a difficult time updating basketball scores while you are listening. Heck after a couple of weeks of each one, they would start to fail to update football scores regularly and at times song names and artist. It could have just been me, but that was my experience. The software is full of holes.

I think that is more of a Sirius software wide problem...... I don't think it's strictly the Sportster units themselves..... granted they do suck after about a month.
