Default Replay Home Kit error?

link

I thought the home kit for the replay would have the little FM anntena that comes with the car kit. Am I missing something?

Maybe the FM mod works very well so it's unnecessary.

You could just make your own.

Why would it? 99% would hook it up directly to your receiver with the Stereo Mini to RCA cable. That is how I hooked mine up. Plus, does it even come with the FM transimitter? Isn't that in the cradle itself?

The FM mod is built in to the tuner.

Is the actual transmitter there or just the controls for it? Is there a FM Out jack on the home cradle? That should tell you if it was a missing piece or not.

I don't know since I don't use it in my Replay or old Audiovox, I have gone with the FM Modulator for both of them.

On my Sportster home kit there is no FM out.

There are controls for the FM transmitter in the menu. You can turn in on or off, depending if you need it.

You use the SATSWB?

None of the Sirius home kits come with the FM-out. Most folks hook them up directly to a receiver and so there would be no need for an FM-output.

Just to clarify, the FM Tranmitter is built into the tuner totally, there are no components in the cradle other than the FM-output that extends the range and allows you to hook-up an SATSWB in the cradle.

The older 2.0g car tuner kits had the FM Transmitter build into them, but that was changed with the 2.5g tuners were released.

To my knowledge as I said above, rather 2.0g or 2.5g none of the Sirius home cradles have come with the FM-output.

The Blaupunkt America04 home kit has an option for the FM OUT (to put in the FM wire), although it did not come with one (wire) so I contacted Blaupunkt to send me another one.

Then again, this unit sucks, so not many people would have it.

The only reason I did not hook mine up directly is because the antenna is not long enough to reach my stereo. I needed about 6 more foot to be able to hook it up and I am not going to buy the exnteded wire just to do that. The wireless FM transmitter works great for me in my house.

Have a great day.

Well it stil might because I kow the car kit has it.

Im talking about the thing with that little wire that in the car kit for the FM signal. I have to use FM for my house for multi-locations and it would be nice if their was something that came with it to help it more.

I just took my home kit and popped out the rubber stopper where the fm out "should" be. Its pretty much empty...no fm out female adapter there.

You can unscrew the base of the home cradle and swap in the car cradle, but the home cradle does not appear to support the fm out.

DAB, my car cradle came with a 20" (approx) antenna that can plug into the FM out...i think this is what kriv is wanting to use. I can't comment on how much of a boost in reception it would provide in a house. I suspect its meant to extend the fm modulation just a little bit closer to the car antenna.

Cheers!

If you buy the Sportster Replay Home kit SP-H2 it contains the FM OUT connector. You must have bought the old Sportster home kit. I did the same thing and I am going to trade it out for the new one. It transmits through the house much better!

Yep, definately bought the orginal home kit...i thought thats all there was. Didn't realize they made a new one. If it has the FM OUT, sounds like thats the ticket for home broadcast through a large home. Good find

Does it come with the same 20 inch (or whatever) length FM OUT antenna or something different?

Cheers!

Yep, I also have a JVC FM modulator for my old Audiovox unit now in my wife's car. Trying to listen to it using the built-in FM transmitter last year in Dallas didn't last very long. I went to the modulator pretty quick and bought the SATSWB when I bought the Replay last month. I only have home cradles for the Avox at the moment, both are hooked up by cables.

My SP-H2 includes the FM Out and antenna wire. The home dock "station" appears to be the same as the car dock, but mounted on a flat plate.

The SP-H2 has been in short supply. I ordered one from Crutchfield in the middle of June and it only arrived last week. They kept delaying shipment due to manufacturer delays.

Default Dont worry about it

I have a Sportster IR and have 2 car kits and a home kit, I also found that there is no FM line out jack on the home kit, but I am wondering why anyone would need it as the fm modulator is built in to the tuner itself (Sportster IR) and I have tried with and without the little Fm out antenna and the reception is exactly the same (no difference) so I don’t even bother with the little antenna.
I set my tuner to 90.1 and I can have it running in the house (with no FM antenna out) and I can get approximately 600 feet from my house. Works good for at work too I leave it on and running in the car and I tune the radio at work (300 feet away) to my frequency and listen all day at work, just cant change channels unless I go out to the car.
