Default New Calypso PNP in my new Santa Fe, and boombox - very nice

My daughter is turning 16 in October so I am turning the keys to my Saturn over to her and I bought a new Hyundai Santa Fe for me. She decided that since my Audiovox PNP is installed in my Saturn, that it should stay there for her! Needless to say, my girl has me wrapped around her finger. So when I bought my new vehicle I got a Clarion Calypso PNP and bought the companion boombox to go with it.

The Calypso is a very nice receiver and looks very sleek in my vehicle. It operates much like the Audiovox. However, I had always heard the Clarion boombox was much better sounding than the Audiovox, and that is very true. It was well worth the $29 extra dollars I paid for the Clarion model. Of course no mid-sized boombox is going to sound like your home stereo, but there is no doubt this boombox sounds much better than the Audiovox. Even my wife, who is no audiophile, immediately noticed the difference. Anyone considering a PNP and also wanting a boombox, may want to consider the Claypso due to the enhanced sound quality of their product.

How about some pictures of the Clarion PNP and Boombox. I was not aware that a Boombox was available for the Clarion. Just curious to see what it looks like. I've seen two different version and wondering which one it actually is.

You've got it...

Calypso PNP installed in 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe

Boombox for the Calypso - if you notice, there is a "door" above the receiver that you open and the receiver just slides right down in the window...no more pushing the receiver in to make sure the PNP makes contact.

An added feature of the Claypso boombox is that the speakers can be disconnected from the boombox and positioned anywhere in the room.

Thanks for posting the pictures. I've always like the Clarion Calypso PNP, though its one of the few I never tried. The boombox looks pretty neat and I am glad to hear that it has better sound than the older Audiovox.

Looks nice, my choice came down to the Calypso and the Sprtster R. I wish the Sportster R had the Calypso display, then it would be about perfect.
