Default Sportster IR hissing

I have a home kit for my new sportster IR and I have been listening all the time lately. After an hour or so of it being on I can hear this hissing noise, when I turn the volume all the way down I can hear that it is coming from the reciever itself. Not to mention that it gets really hot, but I guess that is normal. Does anyone else have this problem? What should I do about it? If I bring it back to radioshack can I transfer the service to another reciever?

Sorry for all the questions I am a Sirius n00b (only had it for a week and a half, I couldnt be more happy about never having to listen to FM again!)

How do you have this thing connected? Is it a direct connect or are you using the FM Trans. FM transmitters will sometimes will have static or hiss. If you are doing the FM thing, then I would suggest an SATSWB so that you can do a hardwire FM Tran.

Its connected via the line in of my computer and it transmits fm to my tv's surround sound system and my alarm clock. But my main listening place is the computer.

I would bet the hiss is coming from the audio input on the computer. Those are known for that type problem. Have you tried connecting it directly to your home stereo or another source? Is there hiss with those as well?

If you disconnect the line out and you still hear hissing, it is likely coming from the backlighting or the power adapter that connects to the cradle. Backlighting on many products makes a buzzing noise.

See if the tone changes when you adjust the backlight intensity up and down.
