Default Need to see a pic of new Ford HU

I have a 2005 Explorer. I am trying to decide between the new AUX adapter from PIE to use my Sportster or the Ford Sirius tuner kit.

I want to see what the display looks like. I asked my dealer and they looked at me like I had 2 heads. The dealers seem so clueless.

Anyway, I would like to see a pic. I have searched and came up empty handed.

Here's what my HU looks like.

I know it's hard to see, but it has a SAT button and an AUX button.

I'll try to get a better pic.

Don't be alarmed, my Sportster is in there now!

I don't have a picture of it, but I've seen it before. It's nowhere near as big or easy on the eyes as your sporster is.

Is it worth it? I know I cannot have all the features displayed at the same time like my Sportster, but I still am undecided. Any details that you can remember?

Thanks for the help.

I just got a 05 Explorer Sport trac and the radio that came in it is the same one you have, which I think sucks. I asked the dealer about the integrated part you are supposed to be able to get from the dealer and they looked at me like a dear in headlights.

Does anyone know what I have to buy to either integrate the sportster IR with the factory radio or what I need to do a direct connect from the IR to the radio which I would control from the IR.

Sorry if I am not making sense....

Found this site that might help.

IMPORTANT AVAILABILITY INFORMATION: (08/03/05) P.I.E. has announced another long awaited Ford auxiliary input converter that works with the 2004-2005 Satellite-ready Ford radios and will be available to ship by mid-September. Order now and get on the backorder list. Two important things to remember - - one, we NEVER charge your credit card until the product actually ships to you so we are not holding your money hostage; - - and two, we will ship product in the sequence in which the orders were received. So the sooner you get your order in, the better chance you have to get one of the first available.
AT LAST!! An auxiliary input converter for the '04-'05 Ford Satellite-ready radios!!

Finally, an aux input device that will work with the Ford satellite-ready CAN-Bus radio!! The PIE FRD03-AUX/S is another new Auxiliary Input Converter from P.I.E. that will work in Ford-made vehicles that before now had no adapter or interface that was compatible. This devices connects to the 16-pin and 24-pin conectors in the rear of your satellite-ready factory radio to create an external auxiliary input. The factory radio must have an "SAT" button to be compatible (see specific vehicle application list below)

The auxiliary input has a pair of left and right RCA audio inputs located on the interface box. With this converter installed, you can connect any external audio device that has an audio output directly to your factory radio without using an FM modulator and hear the audio through your factory sound system.

IMPORTANT APPLICATION NOTES:
Please note that the following application information is preliminary and could change as more information becomes available. P.I.E. has assurred us that the vehicle list is pretty solid.

NOT compatible if the rear seat entertainment system option is installed, as the FRD03-AUX/S connects to the RSE connector.
MUST have the "SAT" on radio
MUST have the 16-pin and 24-pin connector configuration to be compatible >
If your vehicle is pre-wired from the factory with a data cable running to the rear/trunk, see FRDW-AUX
NOT compatible with vehicles with factory navigation system.
Fits the following Vehicles:

Ford
2005 Crown Victoria
2004-2005 Escape (16-pin & 24-pin connectors only - for 20-pin connector, see FRDN-AUX/S)
2004-2005 Expedition

Yeah, I posted that here:

I still want to see what the display looks like.

I guess soon I'll have to be the guinea pig.
