Default Goodbye sirius (for now)

I think my JVC kicked it. It was a POS unit, but I can't believe how quickly it died. I'll wait another day or two to see if it can rise from the dead before cancelling.

I have thought about buying the IR, but I think I will wait until the gen 3 stuff comes out. Some of that should be announced at the end of the month.

I'll be relying solely on my XM, which is what I listen to 90 percent of the time anyway. Talk about bad timing, though, with football season coming up. I usually watch the games, but I did enjoy the NFL talk channel.

You can call SIRIUS and have them freeze your subscription until you buy a new radio. I think they will do this for up to 6 months.

It started working again this morning.

Well, I guess that solves my dilemma. I wonder if it was a fluke, a real problem or something stupid that I unwittingly did.

Anyway, I'm back in business.

I've had a JVC car stereo and a home CD player and had trouble with both. I've liked their stuff in the past but now avoid it.

My Audiovox PNP2 is about to die. I have had it for a year now, and it's really starting to act up. It is freezing most of the time during startup, just stays on the Sirius logo, it won't even play in the car dock anymore, just my boombox, and now it is erasing my station presets.

I'm glad I didn't go with the "lifetime" plan.

Sounds like it was just a fluke to me. None of these tuners are perfect and that includes the XM ones. I could name plenty bugs that I have found on both, including my new Pioneer Airware locking up and having to remove the battery before you can get it to do anything. Most of the time removing all power and giving it a brief time out will fix most issues.

In regards to JVC, I had the JVC PNP, but opted to go with the Audiovox PNP3 at the last minute, but I never had any issues with it. I had it for a day or two less than 30 days so that isn't a very long run, but I know some that have had this tuner without incident since it was released.

My JVC Head Unit, I'd put it up against any HU out there today. In the mid ranged price HU using Sirius there is just isn't a better head unit in terms of display and making full use of the Sirius tuner features.

If you would have gotten a Lifetime sub, you'd do what anyone else did, you'd either send it in for repair or you would do a tuner swap, its not complicated. LOL

It just seems to me as if you were almost looking for an excuse to cancel the service. If I threw in the towel as quickly as it appears you did, I wouldn't have either service today. My Pioneer Airware is froze up and I can't get it to come on.... Well goodbye everyone, I am cancelling XM my tuner it kicked it. Of course I am just being saracstic, but that is the way your post struck me. You called the JVC a POS, but out of all the tuners avaiable it was the one you selected. Then you go on to say.. oh well I listen to XM 90% of the time so, I am not going to bother making a single bit of effort to do anything about this, I am just going to cancel.

I listen to XM and Sirius about 50/50, though I may listen to one or the other a slight bit more at different times. I think if I only listened to one as little as you do, I'd go ahead and cancel it.

My listenership to Sirius will go up dramatically once the NFL season starts. (And continue through the NBA season) Right now, it probably isn't worth the $13 a month. However, in a month or so, it will be worth double that.

The reason I was so willing to call it quits is because I don't particularly like this tuner, and I know I will be upgrading to a gen3 tuner when it comes out. I did select it over the others, and it was a bad choice. I picked it because it came with a suction mount where as the PNP2 didn't. Once I had it set up in my car, I realized the suction mount was awful in my car. So I just had it sit in the seat near the e-brake. I made a bad purchase.

It's not like I called right up and cancelled. I waited on it, and it worked again. Hopefully it was a fluke.

I know you understand, but other people need to realize satellite radio receiver technology is in its infancy. As you explained, none of them are perfect.

And the satellites broadcasting to them aren't perfect either. They've got flaws that cause problems, which some may unwittingly blame on the receivers.

Netzy may very well have a defective receiver, but I sure wouldn't cancel over it.

I got a defective satellite TV receiver one time, but I didn't scrap the service over it. I promptly sent it back and had them send me a new one.

Defective receivers aren't Sirius's fault, the blame is squarely on the hardware manufacturers.
