Default In the market for a new reciever....what do I buy?

I have an Audiovox PNP2, and the unit is all but dead, only a year after purchase. My biggest complaint about this unit was the way that it attached to the dock on the vehicle, it never seemed like it fit securely in the dock from the start.

I want to replace it with one that does NOT have any problems coming loose or bouncing around in the vehicle dock. I also want a PNP unit that has a large display, something close to the PNP2 in that regard, and one that comes with a remote.

With that being said, which is the best option for me? I've had my eye on the Sportster replay, but I don't know if this unit has any issues with it or not. Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks.

You'll want a PnP that has a locking mechanism on the docks. You might want to state why you need the largest display available. If you can settle with a distance limit of about 40" to read the smallest highlit text, the JVC SR2000 has the dock lock that you need. My eyesight is fairly bad and that works for me.

I just really like the large display, people in both the front and back can read it.

Consider me another vote for the JVC unit. Very secure, classic looks, nothing fancy but gets the job done unlike the other receivers that IMO look and feel like toys.

I'm hoping they come out with a portable hand-held unit. It will blow away anything Xact puts out. The vertical PDA styling I think is the way to go too.

OK OK...I see the boombox and the car kit there also along with some nice honesty in the rest of your post. If the tuner was in decent working condition I'd be all over it.

That's a good way of putting it. The JVC2000 does make the other PnPs look like toys. And yes, I would love a portable hand-held version of it. They probably would have to change the display to one with less illumination, but that's fine with me as long as they get the browsing modes correct.
