But in reality at this late stage of the game, you should be thinking about portability. Why not one that will do the bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, car and be portable too. That is what I have in my XM Pioneer Airware... I can use that darn thing ANYWHERE. Why spend all that money on individual tuners for those areas, when you can maybe get a couple of tuners and one of them be portable that can be used in all those areas.

Everyone should have at least two boom boxes and 2 or 4 PNP's, Head Unit and a Home Receiver and then a Portable.

Been there and done that. Got the T-Shirt too, but its faded and got holes in it. LOL

I don't think everyone are junkies like some of us. Most like to maximize their dollars spent and so in my opinon the portable gives you the best of all worlds. Yes it even plugs into my boombox while layed up in my log cabin on the weekends or out on the beach and if I decide to take stroll, I slap on the head phones and go. Nothing to carry, except the brewskies... Then its back to the truck for the trip home and on the bed side for going to sleep, only to listen on the drive into the office and sits on the desk the rest of the day, all with a single subscription.

Okay, Okay so I got multiple boomboxes and PNP tuners and 2 Head Units with Sirius Tuners........ Sue me why don't you! ROTFLOL

i want the tivoli for the kitchen and i want a unit that i can transport to the car and the bathroom... im hoping the executive docking station with the built in speakers will be able to cover that room im waiting to see what will come out this fall. im not into portables like walkmans. im always in the car or in the house or somewhere where there's a radio. when i workout i dont have a walkman i use the stereo

All I keep hearing all the time when I am in the stores is that there have been alot of complaints of loss of signal issues with the XM " portable " units. Everybody sees Elton John walking through his living room with the Myfi and fail to realize that DBS uses a digital signal and if there is no repeater nearby you are going to get the signal blocked by almost anything (structures, trees you name it). Of course you could always get a repeater system for your home or something but at what cost between the higher priced unit and a repeater. I will take 1 (or 2) much cheaper units and be happy with them. Just my .01

The built in antenna in areas where there is no repeater doesn't work worth a hoot. But they finally figured out that having a headphone/atenna setup actually works pretty darn good. This will be the same type setup Sirius will HAVE to go with as indicated by the Rego Info. I think far too many people including myself expected these units to work just straight out of the box with the built in antenna. Look how many can't get a signal with a boombox it won't be any different with a portable. So, I think what you are hearing is probably the ignorance of people thinking these radio will somehow be able to get a single when a full blown home cradle kit antenna can't get one in many locations.

You can get a couple of cheaper PNP's for the price of a portable, but you get what you pay for in terms of quality. I learned a long time ago you take the cheap seats you get the cheap seats. Portable tuners certainly aren't for everyone. But for someone that is on the go a lot and doesn't want to drag boomboxes and have to worry about cradle kits or plugging and unplugging all the time its certainly worth considering.

I honestly think Sirius is going to release a tuner that is going to knock our socks off and its going to be portable and I am going to buy it! LOL

I have a MyFi as well. While I overall like the unit, it's features, size, form factor, etc.. it SUCKS for reception. I actually think wearing the dorktenna actually makes it worse. As a portable, it works very sparingly in Tampa, FL. We have a pretty good repeater network here as well. I can't even mow my yard without constant dropouts and I only have one tree on the side!

I wish now I hadn't asked for the unit for my birthday, but oh well, I listen to the XM streaming more than my portable.

All that said, my wife is still using the BIG ASS Brix streamer, yes, old school. So this, or one of the other nifty new things on Thursday will probably replace that. I would even consider getting a PNP to replace my Kenwood deck if I could be assured the sound quality would be the same. I really dislike hitting my change display button to see Artist, Song, etc. I miss the song seek feature too

Isn't that really more of a preference thing than reality. The heaphone antenna works GREAT and it improves reception by 100% in my location in Central, Louisiana. IN regards to them being dorky, I have used them boating, on the beach and even pool side at a hotel. I don't think a single person even noticed that I was wearing them and if they did they certainly didn't appear to take much notice in them. But how this headphone/antenna could make having the Myfi worse make absolutely NO sense to me. It does what it was designed to do. Folks may not like headphones, but in reality that is where we are with these portables at this time and Sirius portables will use the same type headphone/antenna because it's really the most feasible way to get decent reception. I'd rather do that then have stupid car antenna stuck to a hat as was being recommend by some of those XM fan sites. To me that was dorky, but not these headphone/antennas. I flat out like mine, but to each his own I suppose.

I can't wait to get my hands on a Sirius Portable even with the headphone/antenna setup. I'll gladly except that as a means of getting rock solid reception.

Nevermind, I just realized you were probably talking about that Tampon Antenna that they were including with the packages, they have now done away with that. But I do recommend the headphone/antenna setup, so you may want to give that a shot and you'll be amazed at how much better the reception is.

This is the first I've seen of this thread (and the first post) and I think I just found my first receiver.

Actually, I didn't want to spend even more money on the new headphone antennas. The dorktenna is the plastic tube they expect you to clip to a hat or collar

Well, seems sort of nuts to me that you spent whatever you did for the Myfi only to refuse to buy the headphone/antenna which would totally solve the reception problem. $30, it was well, well worth it to me.
