I really can't answer your question as I have never seen one. It would make sense, but it may be that you'll need a cradle in order to get AC power.

Well, that would certainly suck...having to take the cradle from home to work. This thing is beginning to look less and less 'portable' every day.

Your statement makes no sense. If you want to be able to plug it in then that isn't portable anyway. Portable is using it without having it connected to anything period.

However, in looking at the new web site for the S50 that Sirius created the standard package does indeed come with an AC Adapter. So apparently you will have the ability to plug it in to charge the battery. I am sure it will play on AC power as well, though again that totally takes away from portability.

Of course it makes sense. It's really quiet simple: IF indeed you have to take the base along with you in order to enjoy extended service, that fact would make it even 'less portable' (in addition to not being able to listen to live content). If I go away for the weekend to my parents, for example, I would have to take the base unit in order to either charge the battery in the S50 or to listen with AC.

Well come to find out that is probably not the case at all since it does appear to come with an AC Adapter, more than likely for charging the battery.

My quesiton is how is it portable plugged into an ac adapter rather you have a cradle or not? I just see no difference in bringing the ac adapter and cradle or just the ac adapter, you just shove them in your overnight bag, it not like it weights 10 lbs and takes up a ton of space. The cradle also provides a nice stand to hold the tuner as well. Different strokes for different folks!

Well, the ultimate portabilty would be to not have to drag along a base to charge it in...but that appears to be the way they have made the thing. Simply being able to plug an AC adapter into the S50 and plug it into a wall in addition to being able to use the battery withing it would be optimal. Having to bring along more accessories simply detracts from the portability aspect.

Never-the-less, I will probably end up getting the S50 as it is a relatively minor trouble.

You and I look at portability differently. I don't see having to bring an ac adapter and/or cradle as having anything to do with it being portable. Those are optional accessories to charge it as with any other portable tuner out there on the market. It is portable when I am using that puppy without anything plugged into it at all except maybe some earphones or headphones.

What you are talking about is more convenience than portability.

You know, I've seen two pics of this unit. One is tall and thin with a bit of a humpback, the other shorter and less thin.

Anyone know why?

Oh, and portability IS convienience!

I think we'd have to see the pictures you are referring too, cause I don't recall any with a bit of a humpback.. LOL

Except in the case where you have to slip the cradle in your overnight bag in addition to the ac adater, then its not as portable according to you.

What's the purpose of the color screen? I mean, what will be displayed? Artist name, song title, etc?

Yes, an antenna on the roof is advisable. Some place it on the dash but you will get more dropouts with that configuration.

Is there a specific antenna I need to order? Can you provide a link to recommended accessories I need? Thanks!
