I don't get all the excitement. You don't get any live programming and it costs more than a MyFi. Thats like buying a VCR that costs more than a TV. The recordable hours are nice, a lot heftier than a MyFi, but that price is SCARY.

People felt the same way about the XM2GO tuners. I remember buying a Myfi and with such poor live reception and $359.99 I returned that baby as did a lot of folks. Quickly though the price dropped down and the S50 will be the same way. No way it will remain at $359.99. There are many many times I stay in hotels with no ability for live reception and the 5 hours of recorded music and content on my Pioneer Airware is nice, but if I had 50 hours I'd be a heck of a lot happier. Also you can get live reception, just not on the go. The more I use my Airware the more I realize that not having live reception on the go, really isn't as big a deal as I once felt it was. Sure it would be nice and I think the ReGo will provide that, but the S50 is just a different animal.

Sure you do, just not live on the go. Live in the car, live at home, and then it records any content you want so it's there to listen to while on the go. The good thing about this trade-off is the device is much smaller than the MyFi, and has much more recordability. I see it as defining a new type of product. The live products will always have a place, but for many people that are working out or walking with these things, small is better than live and there isn't the pesky reliable signal problem.

If it's such a bad idea, why is XM coming out with a similar device (the Samsung NeXus) that also doesn't receive any live content on the go?

And if XM introduces the NeXus at a noticeably lower price point, Sirius will simply drop the price on the S50 a bit.

The S50 has more advanced features than the NeXus, and the Sirius unit is hitting the stores FIRST. Gee, and XM fanboys are always telling me that big, bad XM is always first with all the cool radios.

wouldn't it make more sense selling the S50 with the home dock and having the car dock as an option? Being portable, who's recording in the car?
Yes, those are my feelings exactly. I've already pre-ordered both the unit and home kit for that exact reason. I want mine just for the portable use at work. A car kit is of really no use to me at all. I already have an Audiovox PNP2 in my car. And as far as recording for portable use; who wants to set up a radio to record in the car? I agree, it would have been nice if it came with both kits, but the included one should be the home kit and not the car kit. But, that's just a minor gripe. I can't wait to get mine, even if I do have to pay extra for the home kit. (I just hope the home kit comes out at the same time or very soon afterward. If I get the S50 and no home kit for awhile, that is going to be a bummer. Kind of like a kid with a new toy at Xmas and no batteries. Oh well, I guess if that's the case, I'll be living in my car a lot, because I'll definately be using it and recording somehow )
:\

Bummer! I just checked colormatchantenna's website, and now it says the S50 should be shipping Oct. 31. Three more weeks! Aaaagh!

Default Just noticed the delay as well

Just noticed the delay as well. Darn! I ordered mine from jjielectronics yesterday for $329.99. I need the $30.00 savings.

The only question that bugs me is how durable the S50 is. I dropped one PNP receiver a couple of months ago (clarion), and played the game of trying to get it fixed/replaced. (Of course it was out of warranty and neither Crutchfield or Clarion would fix it or replace it for me.) If I blow $329.00 on a new receiver and say it slips off the desk or out of the arm band, is it too going to be a loss?

So can I record any content? That sirius broadcasts. I would hate to spend $350.00 to find out I can only record music or content sirius owns. For example Internet Streaming doesnt include most sirius channels.

If you ordered it and they aren't put off again you might get it before then, anything is possible. If you choose to purchase any item at another place please let us know so we can cancel your order.

Did anyone hear King Of All Blacks on Stern this morning say that he was picking up his today? That cracks me up.

Default S50

I've never ordered from CMA, but all the good reports from SBS members have me convinced. I'm impressed so far...I ordered the S50 and the home kit...they have been great with communication.

I'm (like everyone else) frustrated with the delays...Hopefully this won't turn into a ReGo deal.

The ReGo had an overheating problem, the S50 doesn't, so it shouldn't be delayed for that. If it is delayed further it is because of shipment or production problems more than likely.

People have mentioned on here that they felt the price of this item may drop after it has been released for a while. Do you guys think that may really happen? I would just be concerned that they may not release a large quantity which would make it hard to find, which would not allow the price to drop. Which do you think is more likely?

The price will drop sometime next year I'd say, with special online deals perhaps before this Christmas.

Boy had it better! I mean, after the early adopters scarf up the first batch...not very many people ar going to want to shell out that kind of cash!

Remember also, the S50 by itself is worthless...got pony up another $100 for the home cradle.

Default S50 + video?

Can this sucka play video like the new ipod?

What's the point of a color screen if not? Please don't say, "album art".

It may have album art one day. It may also be able to pick up video one day, although the screen is perhaps to small for that.

It appears that each channel will have it's own background wallpaper. You may even be able to put photos on it one day, who knows what is in store.

But, it's just cool really.
