Do you believe that bumblbees fly? If so please provide the means by which they do...

When you are designing units (I am talking about the design phase here) there are so very many ways that things 'could' be done. While you are probably not an entomologist, neither am I a device designer so I would know no more about how to accomplish this than you would know how bee's fly. All I am saying is that I wager that there was a way to do things differently...and probably one day devices may be made this way. Lets see.

Bees do fly and you know they do because you can see them fly. They fly because they have wings, which allows them to move themselves through the air. The technical aspects of it is totally irrelevent since you can see them doing it.

When you are designing units, you've got 2 things in mind. Making a quality tuner and doing so at a certain cost point. I think the S50 as it is built today pretty much is the product of those 2 things. There will be no device made the way you suggest, because regardless of you thinking it can be done, there has to be a chipsets that must be activated. It must reside in either the cradle or the tuner itself and therefore one without the other doesn't work as a complete sat radio. The only way to get around this would be to clone the chipset, that isn't EVER going to happen due to security reasons.

Anything is possible if you are willing to spend extra money for subscriptions and additonal cost of this setup requiring additional chipsets thereby raising the cost overall. This would break one of the two things they set out to accomplish which was to keept it at a certain cost point. DVR's for example have multiple tuners built into a single piece of equipment, but NEVER would you see them build two separate units that one subscription activates both. Sirius has a home tuner which is a zone tuner and it has multiple tuners built into it, but each one of those tuners must be activated for you to be able to use it as a multizone receiver. This equipment is very expensive because you are basically buying multiple tuners inside one unit. The same would be true of a S50 type device.

The big question boils down too, is it feasible and in my opinion, I think not. I still think no matter what you'll need multiple subscriptions and all I am asking for is you to do since you seem so convinced it is possible without multiple subscriptions is to tell me how wiithout cloning (which we know they will never do).

It's possible to live on the moon, but is it feasible considering what it would cost to do so?

We can't confirm yes or no, but it is seemingly no because it is not listed as one of the features. But, you don't REALLY need it as you can save a song to the S50 with the press of a button. Then again, you may not want to save every song you like on it. We'll see.

I don't think it does and I for one will be very disappointed that it doesn't. I think just recording the song you like for later playback isn't as helpful to me as getting an alert telling me my song is being played live. I do think because this tuner doesn't offer live portable reception they opted to leave this feature off. I guess they figure when you are recording on a home or auto based you don't need this feature. I disagree. It does offer the sports alerts and a sports tickler to show sports scores.

I guess we won't know for sure till we actually get our hands on this unit, but if I was a betting man, I'd bet it doesn't have the aritst seek or even song seek for that matter.

I went on Sirius today to check out the S50. I wanted to see what all the Hype is about.

The first thing I can say is that I don't think this if for me. At least not yet. When NASCAR gets here, this might be for me. Recording the NASCAR shows and races will be cool. A lot of times I'm out of my truck during a show or race, and I don't get to hear everything. This would allow me to do stuff, like eat, get paperwork done, ect, and then come back to my truck and keep listening. I could also record the night races, if I get sleepy and decide to go to sleep.

With fuel cost the way they are now, I don't like to leave my engine running unless it gets really hot or cold. Like today. I'm just sitting around wait for my load. I wasn't able to listen to the Busch race because I'm not running my engine. If I had this, I could record it, and then when I start driving again, listen to it.

That's one of the upsides about this. But I really won't need it until then. I have no desire to record songs or talkshows that are on Sirius right now. Maybe once they get some of the Christian programs up and running. Or maybe if they were ever able to broadcast Coast to Coast AM on Sirius. Other then that, I'll wait another year before I buy a new radio.

The down side is the price. That's a lot of ducets to be putting down. I remember paying $300.00 for my first XM Sony Plug and Play. Hopefully the price will come down. And maybe by then, they'll have a true portable that is like the MyFi or XM2go. TTFN

Are walkman's and IPOD's portable? Do they receive live reception? Not getting live reception outside the home or auto dock, doesn't mean the S50 isn't portable. You simply record the content you wish to take with you portably YES, much like a Walkman or IPOD.

Looks like Circuit City has begun to presell the S50. The Sirius Store is still pre-selling it for the same price and is also expecting an earlier availability date, but I figured I'd post this here for those who still prefer "brick and mortar" retailers.

Default Extended warranty

I just took a look at Circuit City's website. Although they claim they won't have the product until 12/1, they do offer the extended warranty. With this product being so portable, the chances of dropping it are greater. Being one who has had a plug and play dropped and the unit malfunctioned (on a carpeted area), I think the extended warranty is a most have for this product.

Most Walkman portables receive AM/FM live.

My point is, the S50 does not receive LIVE Sirius content. I was kind of shocked by this.

Why is the S50 so expensive then? Out of the dock, It's just a MP3player with recored Sirius content right? Am I missing something?

Well, for starters it is a full color LCD screen. 50 hours of recording time among many other cool features. And, they can charge that because it is such a cool techy gadget. The price will come down, it's already at $279 with rebate.
