Best Buy and Circuit City(on LI) have the S-50 on display as of 7pm Friday as i checked the area when doing Xmas shopping for my daughter--
(color on the S-50 was very vibrant before i somehow shut the thing off and couldnt get it back on--They had it in the car docking cradle--The salesman said it was just put out an hour ago and he couldnt figure out how to turn it back on either--i think i broke it! LOL)
So the stores are receiving them already as i confirmed in my area

Hmmm that IS a good deal....

You said it, brother! I have it all hooked up. System is a go. Excellent signal. Howard News is AWESOME. Now, after testing, I am going to go ahead and buy a second receiver for fifty bucks, and then I will be wired for both car and home.

I have the receiver at home set up this way: I have a splitter coming off of the receiver, and I have a stereo feed going from the receiver to my PC speakers (a nice set), and another wire feeding stereo to my PC soundcard. Think about what that means.

So now, I will have my home, my PC (heh heh) and my vehicle all wired and running on Sirius for a hundred and fifty bucks total.

One more time: $150.00!

I am going to have the same functionality as the S50, and then some! I can do whatever I want, I can keep whatever I want, I can load my MP3 player with whatever I want, and not only that, but while I am listening to my MP3 player I will also be able to be recording at home at the same time!!! That's right, I won't have to miss programming because I have to take the key to the whole system with me (BIG problem with the S50 design).

I went ahead and paid for a year of Sirius in advance, but I am not adding that to the costs that I am incurring to get set up because that is just a given. Everyone has to get activated.

I am telling you that my setup, for my needs (mobile, home, recordable, manageable, cheap, effective), is PERFECT.

Sounds like they are finally coming in. I will do some digging in the Cincy area and get back with everyone.

Thanks for the heads up that it is trickling in!

Default alarm

Does anyone know if the S50 has an auto alarm feature? I want something that I can wake up to in the mornings.

Out of curiosity...

What would stop someone from setting up their "schedules" of recordings on the S50 and then hooking the line-out to a computer. Someone could then set up an identical recording schedule on thier computer so they could get nicely named files. After doing this that someone could then dump these files to a different portable MP3 player for listening any time.

The benefits of this are no down times for recording, smaller portable MP3 player, and automatic tuning.

This really has me thinking. This will definitely be a workable alternative to TimeTrax.

Sorry if someone already mentioned this on the 40+ S50 pages. I just didn't feel like all that reading and searching.

What would stop them? Nothing really. People already record from their receivers onto their computers.

My point is Sirius would probably be better served to use the DRM technology and allow you to offload the recordings to a different unit. Then you could then pay an additional fee to "rent" the recordings on a separate device. They could have this as a premium subscription charge.

This would be very similar to how Napster and Yahoo music services work and would provide an additional revenue stream for Sirius. I know I would pay the price if the price made sense. This would also save time and hassle from computer recording and stop some of the more honest people like myself.

That means you only get to record 1 station all the time. Get the S50 and your options open up GREATLY my friend.

Of course if you are "all Howard all the time" then I guess you are all set. Myself, I'm the biggest fan of Howards and I doubt I would give him 100% of my listening time.

I think I heard or read today that the S50 records your 3 favorite channels and will replay "shuffle" style. I do remember looking at how to delete content and it is done by All, Artist, Genre, Song, or Least Listened To. The Voice Assisted Navigation is female and very smooth and pleasing. There were so many options that i cannot remember them all. This radio is amazing.

If that is true then Sirius sure paid a LOT of attention to the biggest complaint I have for my Myfi. Deleting whatever you want is awesome!

I was at the Best Buy and the Circuit City in Chattanooga, TN yesterday, and both had the S50 display in prominent places, but no demo units had came in yet. I asked the guy at Best Buy and he looked it up and none of the Best Buy's in this district got them in on Friday (must have just been on the East Coast first). He did check though, and said they should be in later this week (not sure if this is the demo or actual units, but sounds like they are very close). Oh, and btw, for once, they had the Sirius units playing instead of the XM ones. And the Best Buy guy sounded really excited about the S50 coming too. This is sounding like great news for Sirius.
I should be in the Best Buy in Knoxville later this week, and I'll be checking to see if they've got any in yet either. (I'm sure SISO will probably be checking too to see if the demo is in).
Anyway, I'm getting excited. I hope our's ship from the Sirius Store this week .

All reports indicate that the home dock will ship approx. 1 week after the S50. itself.

BRH, I did check Knoxville today, they didn't have the demo unit in. Nor did Circuit City.
