Other notes:

I originally thought that the silver back of the s50 was the battery. It's not and is just the cover. The battery is behind the silver cover. It is a small and thin battery.

You can schedule 10 programs up to 4 hours each. All recordings are saved to My Sirius Shows. Just like a Tivo that has been programmed for the future. It will wake up if turned off from the home dock and will record with constant power from the car dock at the time of the scheduled recording. BUT has to be docked with a power source and a good signal to the birds. If you are using the S50 at the time of a scheduled recording, you will be prompted with an option to proceed or not. Same thing if you try to change channels while recording.

My Sirius Channels: Can you choose the 3 channels? Or does it just record the 3 you listen to most?

Also concerning the playback of the My Sirius Channels content. I thought I had read somewhere that the S50 would take this stored content and could mix up the playlist. Then I got to thinking that with all the DJ talk on radio how would that ever work. So I'm thinking the S50 does not do that. Correct me if I'm wrong.

My Sirius Channels are composed of your 3 most listened to channels. Content from My Sirius Channels are put into 3 Playlists named after the channels they originated from (My Octane, My Spectrum, My Raw Dog). You can save individual songs/shows by pressing the Love Button (My Sirius Songs). Content in My Sirius Channels cannot be browsed as a list. You can use the shuffle or play all option in the My Sirius Songs listening mode.

It gets really customizable from here, lol.

I would think he got all that info from the owners manual that comes with the display units. I spent a good bit of time reading thru it today and man this thing has a ton of features and options.

Could you elaborate on this? I planned on recording Howard at home on Monday and listening to him on the way to work on Tuesday while recording Tuesday's show at home and listening to it on Wed, etc.
I'm worried that I won't be able to get decent reception in my office, that's why I want to record it at home for next day play. But that's not possible is it? It has to be docked to record?

This is correct you would not be able to record it but every other day if you brought it with you to work. I think what I heard many say is that they would record it in the morning and listen to it in the evening. There is no perfect solution for no live reception being available at a work location. It does indeed need to be docked to record. I am assuming that shows will be replayed in the evening times anyway. So, you may could record the replay the night before to take it with you to listen to that day, but it would be a day old. Then again why would you just listen to it that evening at home unless of course you are too busy.

I think if there is a will there will be a way, but it will be difficult until each person gets it figured out.

You can always listen online at work, assuming his channel will be online.

That is still an unknown, but the biggest issue is most work places will block Sirius so listening online may not even be an option if it is available. Employers pay a premium for bandwidth so they don't want it wasted on all the employees listening to Stern or other types of online streaming.

Yeah you hit the nail on the head. I can't listen in the evening cause I'm too busy. However, if the show is replayed in the evening I can record it and listen to it the next day at work. That would be one solution.

do you have the ability change the bitrate in which it records? 50 hours with 1G of memory seems like a low bitrate can you record less and have better sound quality? or does sirius have a propritary compression built in? anyone know?
