Howard will also show off some SIRIUS hardware... GSI is told that "Howard will let the cat out of the bag on Letterman, and it is a big bag!"
Maybe/hopefully SIRIUS is waiting 'til Howard shows off the S50 to the world then announce it's now available for purchase...?
Do you really thnk that Howie knows when the S50 is going to actually be released? He'll just say WHATEVER Sirius tells him to say.

Maybe SIRIUS wants him to be the one to really show off the S50 to the world, then have him announce that it will be on sale now/very soon.

I mean what other reason could there be for them taking the link down on the site? The demos are already out in stores, people are waiting,... then they take the link down on the site?
I really hope they are just building it up for a good ending...

It seems that a bunch of kids are running the DEI/Sirius supply chain.

WTF is the issue??????? This is NOT the way to run a business.

After the ReGo, then this, I have ZERO faith in any product announcement from any Sirius equipment supplier, or Sirius themselves.

They need to get their act together. If it's the RIAA, then someone just needs to make a damn decision, fix the units, and distribute them. If the RIAA is scared we will "steal" music, then they are correct. Just put a damn timer on the S50 so saved music will delete itself after X days/months. Fine, go nuts RIAA. Do whatever you gotta do. Just be aware that any "anti-piracy" method will be hacked, however the vast majority of the population will never hack anything. The RIAA needs to get over the 1% of the population that will steal, and let the music industry thrive.

I haven't bought a single CD or song since 2.5 yrs ago (when I first got sat radio). Has nothing to do with piracy or storing music. Now does that mean the RIAA will make sat radio illegal? Wouldn't doubt it.

I'm just sick of the totally unreliable product announcements (concerning portable units). WHAT is the issue here??????

Default Wild, unsubstantiated, conspiracy theory rumour

Congress scared off XM / Dell from releasing their version of the S50 and now they are doing the same thing to Sirius. If this thing is not in stores by the time Congress takes it's winter break, it won't be available until the legislature reconvenes in January and may be scrapped altogether.

Just found this....

UPDATE* 11/17/05:

We received word directly from Sirius on 11/16. There is apparently still a small delay with this unit. We are SO ready for these to arrive. This wait is driving all of our customers crazy and we share in the pain. :-)

We expect these - based on our most credible and up to the date information, sometime around Thanksgiving.

The Sirius S50 is quite possibly, the most anticipated product release in satellite radio history. Several product delays, several shipping date changes and several tons of phone calls from customers later.... we are nearing the beginning of the New Day in Sirius' history. We have begun order processing our presale units. All of our presale units are qualified for a $50 Sirius rebate, plus free shipping!!

Thanks for that, but WHY do we have to get our "information" from enthusiast websites and such? I mean, anyone can type anything onto their website. "The S50 will ship on 10/31...no wait, 11/5...no wait, there are software issues, now it's 11/15...no wait, the RIAA is demanding DEI rewrite the software...12/4...there are flash chip issues....12/14" and so on. Nobody has ever had reliable information...it's all just unconfirmed rumors, etc. It's like the damn CIA here. No one person knows the entire story. It's really simple. Sirius/DEI could say "The S50 is delayed because of xxx, and they will arrive in stores on xxx" Done. Is it that hard? If "technical glitches" are the reason they can't give a date, then the manufacturer needs to fire their engineers and find people that can produce products reliably and on time. Period. It's not hard, there is talent everywhere.

I am a Sirius shareholder, and am really concerned that the company and it's product manufacturers constantly remain silent while their customer base flounders in confusion. Yes, I realize they must maintain a competitive edge, etc, but this is ridiculous.

You can get some good stuff for a low price (cheap shipping too).

Here is the site:

I think the S50 "offering" on Woot! is just a joke.

One can only hope the RIAA isnt forcing them to make stored content only last a certain number of days. That seems to be the latest thing those %#@#$ want to do to LEGAL PAYING customers.

With that out of my system I will let everyone in on my sightings in Cincinnati.

The Demo units are in everywhere but Best Buy here lol. Does not seem like Best Buy in Cincy is going to get em first that is for sure.

HHGregg seems to be the winner here. They are selling them for 299.99. Yep $299. They said they were due to have 2 in on Wed. I called them and they confirmed they had 2 but when I got there they got 2 demo units lol. So I pre paid so I could get the $299 price.

According to the inventory computers at HHGregg they say they have recieved shipment of S50's and they are at their Indiana warehouse. The computer says they have several hundred on order, 150 units sitting at their warehouse in which 7 are on their way to the store I preordered mine at.

So hopefully all this paranoia will calm down very shortly.

Wanted to give a glimpse of good hope to everyone.

Please elaborate.

Are you saying the S50 doesn't exist in reality?

There is a fully operational demo unit at my local Best Buy. They are expecting a shipment of S50's any day now.

Now it is Dec. 2. Is it the RIAA or is it supply problems? My local BB said hopefully by 22nd of Nov. I called Sirius and those folks say it is already out. I said, " If it's already out, how come you folks aren't selling it on your website?" He has no comment. I am getting anxious for this thing...common Sirius. DON'T MISS BLACK FRIDAY !!!
CS wrong answer #98726783

It looks like they could miss Black Friday indeed.
October 10th
October 25th
November 11th
November 17/18th
November 25th
December 2nd

Those are all the dates (to the best of my knowledge) that the S50 was expected. Get off your ass Directed, Sirius, whoever.
i think every date they miss, they should drop the price retail $20. so there.
