I am thinking it will not be too bad for me out here on the West Coast. I can record the true live Stern from 3 am PST to when I leave for work which is 5:45 PST and listen ot it recorded on the way and then pick it up live when I get to work. One question I do have is will this be able to be plugged in and charging and playing at the same time? I would like to bring it to work and use it like my current XACT + Powerpod set-up. If that is a yes then this might be a go for me.

This radio wouldn't work for me at all. I can't get a signal in my home to save my life. I'm not drilling holes in my roof and running 100 feet of wire to my receiver just to pick up a signal. Meanwhile I've got my XMPCR antenna in the middle of dining room and I get perfect reception. I'll stick with listening over the internet. Besides I've got ADD or something because I can't stay on one station for long. I'd be disappointed with not being able to change channels at a whim.

Well a lot of talk today about 50hrs and "huge capacity". I wondered about this before, but now I see on the new pictures a spec sheet showing the units memory capacity at only 1GB. As I posted, I already record Sirius and I can only get 15hrs of music at a bitrate of 192kbps MP3. 192kbps is not that great. If they are listing a capacity of 50hrs then they must be talking about a really low bitrate in whatever format to compress the music down for 50hrs. I can't imagine what that must sound like. And nothing on the spec sheet about a quality setting. I'd rather have 10 hours of good quality over 50 hours of very poor. The battery life is lacking too at 6hrs considering that its only a digital music player while on battery.

It states that the car dock has a line out, but no mention of FM transmissions

This is the unit I have been dying for them to release.

I just didn't think it would be this soon. I thought it would be next year at the earliest.

50 hours is perfect. MP3 and WMA recordings.

But that price. OUCH! $360 for the unit and car kit is bad enough, but $100 for the home docking kit is a little nuts, and a bit of fleecing on Sirius's part IMHO.

I think I will wait until the price comes down a little, and then transfer my yearly pre-sub to this unit from my Audiovox PNP2.

Portability is not that big of a deal for me, but it would be nice to listen to live content while walking around. But neither company has yet to release a portable that's antenna works all that well. And unless you live in an area with alot of terrestrial transmitters, the portables out there now are kinda of useless anyway. Dropouts while walking around to frequent to begin with.

But this is great news. I just wish the price wasn't so damn high.

Your way off if you think this bad boy is only an MP3 player I'm afraid.

Wow... just goes to show that you can't make people happy. For more than 2 years everyone asks "why does XM always beat Sirius to the punch on new innovative SDARS products?" Sirius does, but it isn't good enough. People wanted a deal with IPOD or a like device. Now there is the first one on the market with SDARS cap. and it's not good enough. People are upset because it isn't fully portable with live capabilities. How many have tried the MYFI outside of a dense city (lots of repeaters) area? How many like wearing that faggy antenna on their shoulder. You know what that is right... the new version of a fanny pack. O and A didn't tell everyone how stupid you look with that on did they. Did they mention that even Fox 5 in NYC did a report on it and said save your money everytime you turn it cuts out!!! Speaking of O and A. Many state how they catch the replays, many across the country have to catch the replay. So if this new piece records what you want (including entire shows) and also keeps a buffer full of your 3 most listened to channels, whats the difference. Too many are getting turned of by XM/O and A fools who are clouding the info about this product. Bottom line:

UPSIDE

Color Display
Small size
More stylish than a MyFi
records songs or shows
keeps buffer of 3 top channels
Download the songs you want for when you need a fix
You know this won't cut out when you are wearing it
First of it's kind (Sirius finally beat XM on a product)

DOWNSIDE

Not a true (live) portable

This is so far the coolest product to hit the satellite radio industry (at least that will work with out fail and with out the stupid shoulder antenna).

Thanks SISO. I'm sorry if I crossed any lines, but I have been waiting for about a month or so for this product to be announced to hear reaction. I heard earlier and when I just got home I jumped right online to check SBS. I was surprised by the negativity.

Not gonna lie, kinda took the wind out of my sails a bit.

Uhhhhhhh no I have been waiting for Sirius to release the smallest PNP DSR unit on the market that can record any and all programming I want the way I want. You know to listen to exclusive programs that you XM folks wish you had. Stuff that people actually like. It blows the Myfi away in every aspect except the sort of listen live capability. Its funny how XM says with the Myfi you can listen to XM programing anywhere. Hmmm really, How come every review I have read says they had signal issues with it. Even your own beloved boards are riddled with complaints about its reception. Go to a CC or BB store and ask them how many Myfi returns they get because of the LACK of a reliable signal.

Ohhhhh and its an MP3 player.

Last time I checked you cannot record NFL, College, NHL, NBA, Concerts, Howard Stern, and any other of the talk programming to an Ipod . For 100$ (by the way it is a MSRP which means it will probably be cheaper) more I have a very sweet PNP DSR system AND can record programming or MP3's. So how much is an Ipod and a seperate DSR setup? Please stop typing, your giving XM loving Sirius haters a bad rap. You give me a laugh thats for sure.

6 hours still better than your beloved POS Myfi. It also holds much more programming and songs can be removed individually unlike the XM brick. It looks about 1000 times better with a MUCH nicer color display. And in a smaller package. Matter a fact, Sirius will have the smallest PNP DSR reciever out there. Wow now XM has the big ugly units. Hahahaha

SiriusNow, you absolutely hit the nail on the head. Thank you.

PS: You should post that over at the XM411 Stock Forum and hit them on the head too!
