I think anyone saying there maybe a boombox for the Starmate Replay would only be speculating. Directed or SIRIUS either one has ever said there was going to be a boombox for the Starmate Replay. There may well be one eventually, but who really knows?

If you really need a boombox, then I think I'd go with the Sportster Replay or the Streamer Replay. They use the same Boombox and cradle kits.

The PNP2 used a SIRSWB and the new tuners starting with gen 2.5 used the SATSWB. The difference is the size of the plug that goes into the FM-Out jack. You'll more than likely need to get an adapter that will make the plug-in smaller to fit into the Starmate Replay's FM-Out jack, but it will indeed work.

The Extenstion wire has a big end on it, but YES it will fit into the Starmate Replay, I've used it many times.

well, maybe all I need is the 17-year old boombox that I already have. Can I just hook the Starmate Replay up to that?

It seems like the sportster replay is specifically designed for sports fans, which I am not.

Does your old boombox has an Aux-Input? If so you can indeed use it.

The Sportster name was originally given to this tuner back when it was the only tuner that had the sports features. Today they all have these features, so it's really no more geared towards sports fans than any of the other tuners. In fact the Starmate Replay has just as many sports features as the Sportster. Confusing isn't it! LOL

I just checked and it has an AUX IN and CD OUT.

You are in good shape then, I'd just get the Starmate Replay and be done with it. You do realize though that you'll always need AC power to plug in the Starmate Replay, whereas with a Boombox option it would also power the tuner.

Even if my boombox is running on batteries?

I guess that doesn't really matter to me anyway though. I am not one to take my radio to the park or the beach or whatever.

Sorry, Monica I should have been more clear in my answer. Your boombox can run on batteries, but it wouldn't be able to power the Starmate Replay. The Starmate Replay would require AC power.

Sirius rep at Best Buy said look for a boombox next year for Starmate. Before middle of year. Also said that the next version of the S50 would come out in the 2nd quarter.

Well Monic if this is correct, I'd certainly go with the Starmate Replay and use my old boombox, then later when and if they get one, you can always buy one.

In regards to there being another version of the S50, I am not buying that and I don't care what a SIRIUS Rep said. This guy must not value his job because I am most certain if that info is true, it is very, very confidential as are most things via SIRIUS Corporate. No offense to you, I appreciate you telling us. I am sure we'll get some firmware updates to the current S50, which may add some functions. But it is highly unlikely to be another S50 anytime soon.

I'm going for it. I finally decided to get the Starmate Replay after weeks of reading this forum. It hasn't been an easy decision. But it's the most economical choice for me right now anyway.

I'm going to Best Buy right now! I hope they have it in stock.

Is there anything else that's an absolute must to get with this thing? Or will the car and home kit be enough?

Remember if Best Buy doesn't have it, Radio Shack sells them. It will come with the car kit, so you just get the home kit. You'll be all set.

Once you get back and get it all up and running, let us know how you like it. I think the Starmate Replay Rocks.

I'm back. I went to Best Buy first and they had the Starmate Replay for $119 (before rebate). They didn't have the home kit in stock though, not to mention the staff were completely unfamiliar with these products and they were reluctant to even help me out.

So I walked over to Radio Shack and they had everything in stock but were selling the Replay for $129 and wouldn't match Best Buy. They did have the home kit in stock for $39.99 ($10 cheaper than Best Buy) so I got the home kit there than caved and went back to Best Buy and got the receiver/car kit. So I got both car and home kit for $159.98, which is $10 cheaper than most places I think. I suppose the rebate will take at least two months to arrive.

I haven't unpacked and set everything up yet but I'll let you know how it goes.

Default The Starmate Replay, more bang for your buck.

I just purchased the Sirius Starmate Replay, a home kit and a 1 year subscription and I am pleased to say that this unit is the way to go.
The installation for the house and car took a total of about 20 mins. and after the quick online activation I was up and running a few minutes later.
I was going to buy the S50 but once I found that the S50 is not really as portable as I was led to believe, I opted for this unit and I am glad I did.
This is the way to go, an impressive unit, at an awesome price. The sound is excellent. I ran it through my home theater unit and was blown away at the quality of the sound. Even through my stock car stereo, I was floored by the sound and the fact that I can crank this baby up without any distortion or static. This is definitely the unit to get if you are still shopping around and has not yet decided, as a matter of fact my girlfriend was so impressed with this unit that she is going to go out and get one tomorrow. Can't wait till
Jan 9 06 when stern starts broadcasting.
