Default sportster replay vs. starmate replay

Is there a real advantage to one over the other. I am not interested in sports, but like the replay option. I will be taking it from my car into work or home daily. The sportster replay looks like it has a tuner knob - is it easier to use than just channel up down? I love the look of the starmate replay but debate the loss of the tuner knob. Which one would transport better. Is there plans for a boombox for the starmate replay? Is there any advantage to the newer chipset.

Thank you

Sportster Replay has a boombox. Also Has plug and play cradle so its easier to move around. I own the Starmate R and move it around just as much I just have to unplug two cables each time, but the size and features of the Starmate is what got me. If you want true PNP and are lazy to unplug two cables get Sportster. If you want something that fits in your pocket, has 3g chip, has artist and song seek get Starmate R.

If I'm not mistaken, the Starmate Replay is the only radio with Artist Seek.

I love my artist seek, wish they had more then 30 spots since I'm down to my last 10 free slots. Its great being able to hear every song played on Sirius from your favorate band. The future is here!

Hmmmm... as I see it:

Starmate Pros:
- much smaller size
- artist seek option
-cheaper base price
-cheaper priced home unit
-newer 3G chipset
-runs cooler temp

Sporster Pros:
-boom box option!
-1 more display line
-easier to move around with cradle
-has rebate currently

You forgot Starmate Replay runs cooler and looks nicer (IMO).

3g apparently makes things run cooler...and to my notice, it seems that I get much better signal...I dont know if this is just me...probably is. Starmate Artist Seek is fantastic...its hard to catch just one song when you like a more obscure artist...but with artist seek...youll catch any song that is played by that artist. Can you tell which PnP I have? IMHO starmate R takes the cake...but one suggestion...dont put david bowie on your artist seek, cause youll almost never hear anything else.

Hey guys. So I took my Sirius Sportster (first gen) in yesterday for an exchange at BB, because of the heat issue, my remote hasnt worked since day one, and a few of the preset buttons dont even work. And I also think the thing has stopped seeking for saved songs. Sucks.

But anyways, they are going to give me a new one, I guess the Replay (Sportster). Should I try to get the Starmate instead? What about the cradle for my Sportster? If I take the cradle out, will the cables that are hooked up for the old Sportster, still work with the Starmate?

Thanks in advance for your help

The antenna and FM Out or Line Out cables will work. The DC Power might not.

Do you have the home kit or boombox? If so, I'd stick with the Sportster Replay. If not, this might be a good time to switch to the Starmate Replay, if that is your desire.

I do not have the boombox nor a home kit. But I would also like to not have to pay for the whole deal again, also not having to have my install re-done in my Jeep.

I was hoping they would probably just give me the entire contents of the box, I would assume, but I havent done the exchange yet, so I have yet to see.
