Home Electronics Journal Announces List of Best Gifts for the Holiday Shopping Season
iPod, Optoma MovieTime and SIRIUS Radio/MP3 Player Top List of "Can't Miss Gifts" Compiled by Editors of the Popular E-Magazine
CHICAGO, IL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 11/22/2005 -- Home Electronics Journal, the consumer electronics e-magazine published by database marketer Thomas, Townsend & Kent, has released its top five picks for gifts for this holiday season.

It won't surprise many that editors of the e-magazine that reaches nearly 800,000 affluent electronics enthusiasts put the Video iPod as the No. 1 item on the list, calling it the "ultimate envy gadget gift."

Rounding out the list of "can't miss" gifts are:

-- Optoma MovieTime DV10 Home Theater Projector (suggested retail of
$1,499). This unit, combined with a dark room, a large blank wall and
surround-sound speakers, will "turn your living room into the best Cineplex
on the block," according to HEJ's Steven Mitchell.

-- Archos AV400 100-Gig HD MP3 Player/Video Recorder (suggested retail of
$699). Described as "part TiVo, part iPod," this portable device not only
stores and plays MP3s, but also records video in near-DVD quality and plays
it back on its sharp LCD screen, or through a computer or TV.

-- SIRIUS S50 Satellite Radio/MP3 Player ($279 w/ current rebate). This
gift offers the variety and quality of SIRIUS radio, with portability and
the ability to record up to 50 hours of programming or MP3s.

-- Gateway "Convertible" Notebook (suggested retail starting at $1,099).
In putting a tablet notebook on the list, Mitchell predicts that, just as
laptops sales have outpaced desktops, notebooks with swivel tops that
enable users to handwrite directly on the screens may soon outpace regular

Products deserving of honorable mentions include the Blackberry 7130e from Verizon, the first model that supports the Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) network for high-speed wireless data transfer, and the Sony DCR-DVD403 Camcorder, which offers DVD-format recording.
