Default Do NOT get the Audiovox PNP3!

Do NOT get the Audiovox PNP3!

They quit making the home kit, but the receiver is still in stores for the suckers who will discover they can't dock it at home/office.

That make no sense at all. Never buying Audiovox again.

Default Please help

Hi everyone. I recently got the Sirius 1 for my car for Xmas and I have been very dissapointed in the sound quality. I tried both 88.3 as well as 88.5 and the stations are always filled with static and the music is very muffled. Can someone else PLEASE recommend a better car player for me to upgrade to? I can't really afford to go over $125 so if anyone could post their recommendations based on sound quality and ease of use I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Don't use the FM transmitter because the sound quality, IMO, really sucks. Use a tape deck adapter or a FM module relay if your radio supports it. You could have this fixed for around $20.

Default sanyo csr10

beware of this unit,i bought it in nov knowing stern was coming on,didnt even make it to the revolution.it died after one month of light use . this unit is notorious now for getting stuck at the load screen and not loading any channels. sanyo was very nice and easy to work with for returning it,in the letter i sent along asked them that if this was a problem with all their models like this, if they would just give me a refund. i got the check 10 days after them receiving ithe radio. i am now forced to buy another and because of i have been hearing these issues on many brands,i am leary of even buying another sirius until the technology has improved. for people who doubt what i am saying, read all the reviews on the net. ill join you one day howard!

Serinademignon, the same thing happened to my CSR-10. Can you walk me through what you did to get a refund? Addresses and contact names.

Default The Best Radio To Buy For The Price

I am looking to either switch from XM to Sirius or have both services. I am looking for a good sounding home radio for under $50.00. Can you recommend a radio in my price range? Thank you all for your help.

Hello everyone. This is my first post here. You have a great website full of useful information.

I had been listening to Sirius for the last few months at the business of a friend. And I really enjoyed the channel selection that Sirius offered.

Yesterday I decided it was time to get into satellite radio. I did some price shopping online and saw a Sirius receiver made by Audiovox that was on sale at CompUSA for $49.99.

When I got to CompUSA, they had the receiver...but did not have the vehicle kit to be able to actually use the device.

I was walking down the aisle and I saw a display that had some all in one units...the receiver, vehicle kit (mounting options, antenna, DC adapter, credit card remote). This unit was the XACT Visor. It was $49.99.

So I am mulling over my options....and I decide to go with the XACT Visor.

I was pretty excited...since I am notorious for NOT getting a bargain.

The XACT Visor package rang up at $29.99! I asked the lady if she was sure..and she said, "That's what it's coming up as". She then jokingly said, "Hurry up and enter your PIN (debit card) before the price changes!"

So I walked out of CompUSA with a Sirius Satellite Radio receiver...Vehicle Kit...for a grand total of a little over $30.

The XACT Visor is small...and it doesn't have the recording options other units have. It also has only a single line scrolling display. But it works great!

I have an Xterra...so I installed the antenna on the rear of the roof...then I fed the cable beneath all of the moulding and panels in the car...so that it eventually comes out right at the seam where the "Oh Shit Handle" is near my visor.

This is how I mounted mine...on the visor:

But you could mount it on the window like a radar detector with suction cups...or on the dash like this:

I know it is not a feature rich device like the S50...but for an entry into the world of Sirius it was a great buy.

Today, I am a happy satellite radio loving camper!

Be well,

Moon

Default Set up for my Subaru Outback and office

Hi All

I have a 2006 subaru outback, and I work in a building with windows in jax, fla.
I'm wondering the best set up for me, money is not a biggie, as long as it doenst go over 500 LOL.
I've read around and the sportster and starmate seem the way to go, especially with the S50's
bank of problems. I want it for listening at the office and in the car. So, couple of questions...

1. sportster or starmate?

2. does the 2006 subaru support Sirius and who is good to hook it up? should I buy the unit through
sirius web site or chrutchfields or best buy or sams?

LOL, sorry if confusing or asking to much, any help and info would be greatly appriciated!

Default Starmate vs. Sportster

Vortex - I can't claim to be the expert on equipment like a lot of others here, but I can tell you picked up my Sportster in October '04 (might have been November, not quite sure), and have never one had any inkling of a problem with it. Just recently, I've noticed a very slight fading in the top right corner of my display, but it's a minor annoyance at best... it doesn't interfere with artist/song info, just a part of the channel name.

Watch out for your office though... just because the building you work in has windows doesn't mean that your Sirius will necessarily work. For instance, in my office in Minneapolis, I could get excellent reception when I sat on the north side, then when I got moved to the south side... nothing. It won't even flicker a signal. I'm stuck listening to the web stream, which is fine, but I have to catch the end of Stern on one of his replays on my drive home.

I have had the Xact Stream Jockey XTR1 with the power pod since Christmas of 2004. All of 2005 I used it for maybe 2 hours a day. I would listen to Howard Stern in the morning and then switch over to some music stations for a couple hours in the afternoon. Since January of 2006 I have used it more and listened to it about 8 hours a day while at work. I turn it off when I am away and also have never dropped it or banged it or gotten it wet. today I go to turn it on and it does not work. It flashes the Sirius screen over and over again shutting itself off each time it tires to connect to the channel menu screen. It worked fine on Friday when I last used it but not today. I tried it in my car and then again in the powerpod. So I call in to your repair hotline only to be told "sorry" and that it would cost me $90 to send it in to be fixed. I can buy a brand new one for that price? I am very disappointed with your product and am not going to be purchasing anything in the future with an Xact logo on it. 1 year and 4 months of light to medium use and it breaks down and then I am given no customer support what so ever. Thanks but no thanks.

Default Which receiver is right for me?

I have finally gotten my husband to agree to splurge and get Sirius! There are so many options, I would love some help narrowing them down a bit. Here is what I think I am looking for, a plug-n-play system that could be used in my car but also in my home. However, I think I may want a boombox type receiver rather than committing to just on location in my house. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

The new Sporster4 has Artist seak. Thats why I ordered it cause the regular SporsterR does not. The new Sporster4 also has 30 memery slots for artist and song titles not 20 song titles the older model has 20.

I found the new Sporster4 for $139
