Default Sportster Replay: Do I Need Home Kit, Boombox & FM Modul

I will be buying the Sportster Replay.

Regarding car use: why would I need to purchase an FM Modulator?

Regarding home use: I will probably buy the boombox to be more portable with the Sportster. But, is there a reason to also purchase the home kit? I like the idea of being able to listen on several home stereos. What does the home kit do/add that the boombox doesn't? Also, can the Sportster Replay be used in conjunction with my computer?

Regarding home antenna use: I have DirecTV. Am I correct that buying the Combiner/Splitter Kit + the SIR Terk6 antenna is the way to go for d'awesome reception?

Thanks, in advance, for your help!

The home kit gives the unit power and has a place for Audio out to your computer or stereo. Without it you have no way to power the unit, other than your boombox.

As far as hooking it to a computer you can see Here what I ended up doing. You could do the same for Sirius and an IPOD.

You are correct, you could use that kit if you want to use the same cable.

Thanks for your answers! I've been reading the SBS forums, religiously, the last month or so and see that you are a wealth of info for us n00bs.

BTW, IPOD is a dirty four-letter word in my house.

The FM Modulator would send the signal to your car radio, in case you have no other way of hooking the unit up to your car; such as a cassette adaptor or a line-in jack.

Basically, the main reason to buy the home kit is if you don't feel like spending $100 dollars on the boombox. If you decide to buy the homekit, but don't feel like spending $50 on it, I'm selling mine for only $20 here:

I think you'll be very happy with the Sportster Replay. I highly reccomend it.
