Default Poor Signal Quality

Today I noticed for the first time in two years that my signal was cutting in and out my whole trip to work. This happend from 5:45AM to 6:30AM EST. I left my sirius on overnight to pick up a channel and noticed that all of the songs closer to the AM where cutting in and out constantly. Wondering if there was a satellite issue or something? I NEVER have reception issues. I thought this was REALLY odd.

Anyone else have this issue?

I had the same thing this morning. Sounds like it may be a satellite problem. Constantly went between 2 and 3 bars.

Ive only had my s50 and sirius for less then a week. Its not even mounted and set up completely. The antennae sits on my dash and Ive had no problems since i got it up and running this weekend. Well that was until this morning....audio cutting in and out for my 40 minute drive. Is there a way we can know if there is a satellite problem, will sirius contact us or post something on their website?

Glad I saw this. I typically can do my entire 30 minute commute with no dropouts. It was unlistenable this morning, continuous droputs. DC area (7:15 am EST-7:45 am EST). Wonder whats up?

Also, see my post under help desk...seems there is a problem this AM of some sort, as others are seeing the same thing.

So glad I saw this thread.

I JUST got Sirius the other day. Yesterday afternoon was the first time I listened to it, on my way home from work. I was a bit worried at first, because for now, I only mounted the antenna on the dash. Luckily the signal was great and I got 0 dropouts.

Flash forward to this morning and I am constantly getting dropouts (like one every few seconds), it was completely unlistenable. I was thinking that due to the positioning of the satellite in the morning that this is normal, and I would have to mount my antenna on the roof.

Hopefully this issue is resolved tomorrow and I won't have to resort to relocating my antenna.

edit: This was in Orlando.

Default Poor Reception in CT

Same thing here in Connecticut. The signal was in and out during my hour commute (7-8 AM) down I-95. Sometimes my Starmate Replay would display "Acquiring Signal," while other times the audio would just go dead. I have E-mailed Sirius. I suspected others were having problems, as the Sirus help line was busy all morning.

I noticed the same thing. I did get some stretches with no dropouts, but when I looked, those were always when I had a strong terrestrial signal.

I was experiencing the same issues with sporadic signal strength this morinng. My commute takes me from Framingham to Waltham, in MA. I have a Starmate Replay which, until this morning, has worked perfectly.

I called Sirius and spoke with a rep. He told me that they are currently making updates to their satellites and that the changes should be complete within 24 hours. He also said that he was going to send a signal to my radio (I assume a subscription update message).

I suppose I'll wait until later or tomorrow to take it to the next level. I thought it was weather related, but perhaps not...

Had the same thing happen here in southern Calif. this morning, around 5am, on my hour long drive to work. I have a Starmate Replay, antenna on the roof of my truck. I was watching the signal indicator and both the SAT and TER levels were jumping all over the place. I was also getting the "acquiring signal" message off-and-on.

I decided to do some last minute late night shopping tonight. I had not been listening to SIRIUS, but I grabbed my S50 went out to the truck. Lo and Behold, the signal kept cutting in and out. I looked under antenna aimming and it was going from no signal to full signal.

This is the first time I have ever seen this. What is even more strange is that it continue to do this for about an hour or so. Then slowly started improving. I am sure it has to do with he angle or location of the satellites, but I am not sure. When I got home I plugged in another tuner I have and got full signal, yet my S50 continue to be hit or miss with the signal. I removed the battery, did a default reset, nothing seem to help with the reception. Since the other tuner had full signal I figured something had gone wrong with my S50. I am still not convinced that there isn't something wrong now.

Anyone else specifically notice this issue with the S50 or is this happening on other tuners too? Please report which tuner you've had this happen on.

This really blows my mind as I've never had this happen in the years I've had this service.

I thought of a solar flare too, but don't know how to look it up. Someone said Sirius was working on the satellites and said it would be fixed within 24 hours. DAB I had an S50 and it was my new one, so I got worried, but when I saw other people had this problem, I think it is Sirius, not the S50. I had the problem at home where I have 100% full view, so it is definately something in the sky or the satellites.
