Default Starmate Replay - Game Alert Feature Question

I got my wife a Starmate Replay for Christmas.

It's a great unit (I own an Xact XTR-1).

As great as the Game Alert feature is, it's equally annoying. The other night, we were driving home from somewhere, and the game alert went off. We switched to see what the game was (it was Pistons). We decided we'd rather listen to music, so we went back to listening to music.

The alerts wouldn't stop coming. Sometimes, the unit would beep literally every 30 seconds.

Besides turning the game alert off (which we eventually had to do) or listening to the game, is there a way to let the unit know you're not interested in listening to the game it's alerting you to? It'd be great if the alerts would quit after you switched to the channel one time, and then you had the freedom to listen to whatever else you wanted without interruption. Or, even if the unit would just alert you 5 times or so, and not bother you any more.

Anyone know if this is possible?

There is no way to "snooze" the alert function but you can turn the beeping off.

I believe on the Starmate Replay that there are two options in which to have the Game Alert Feature alarm:

1.) An alert for when your team is in play
2.) An alert for every change in score of your team

Maybe the 2nd choice was accidentally chosen over the 1st option. I have the Starmate Replay and after the first beep to let me know the game is on, I do not hear any subsequent beeps. I know when the power is turned off and then back on, it resets and tries to find the game again. Maybe there is an issue with power supply.

Just some suggestions. Good luck.

I'm not a big basketball fan (I guess if the Knicks didn't stink I might be), but I use the game alert function for my local hockey team. I rarely switch to the game (prefering to listen to music), but getting score updates is a great feature. I guess it just makes more sense for low-scoring sports. I could see how the constant updating of a basketball score would drive anyone crazy.

Yes, I find the beep equally annoying at times, so I just turn the beep off. The scores still pop up but without the annoying beep. Press Menu > Confirmation Tone > Off. See page 45 of the manual for more detailed directions.
